Job Description
WE'RE HIRING
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Early Years Teacher– Shape the World's Brightest Beginnings
Location: On-site
Full-time Level: Qualified / Experienced Start: Immediate / Negotiable.
At our school, every child is a curious explorer — and we need a warm, gifted educator who believes that great early childhood teaching is both a craft and a calling. If you light up around little learners and lead with both heart and expertise, we'd love to meet you.
THE ROLE About the Position As an Early Years Teacher, you will be the nurturing guide at the heart of our child-centred classroom. Working with children aged 3–5, you will design and deliver play-based learning experiences that honour each child's individual pace, curiosity, and strengths. You will collaborate closely with co-educators, specialists, and families to ensure every child thrives — intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
RESPONSIBILITIES What You'll Do 🎨 Design Play-Based Curricula Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-led learning experiences aligned with early childhood frameworks. 🤝 Build Family Partnerships Communicate openly and warmly with parents and caregivers, holding regular progress conversations. 📚 Foster Language & Literacy Embed rich storytelling, conversation, and early literacy across all areas of learning. 🌍 Champion Inclusion & Diversity Embed cultural awareness and respect throughout the classroom culture and curriculum. REQUIREMENTS Who You Are 🌱 Observe & Document Growth Track each child's developmental milestones with meaningful observations, portfolios, and assessments. 🏡 Create Safe Environments Maintain a stimulating, inclusive, and emotionally safe classroom where children feel valued. 🔬 Support Individual Needs Differentiate learning and collaborate with support staff to meet diverse developmental needs. 💡 Reflect & Grow Professionally Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and peer observation programmes. ✦ A recognised early childhood teaching qualification (e.g. B.Ed, PGCE Early Years, or equivalent national credential). ✦ Solid understanding of child development theory and play-based pedagogy (e.g. Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Te Whā riki, or EYFS). ✦ Genuine warmth, patience, and an unshakeable belief in every child's potential. ✦ Strong observational skills and experience writing meaningful, child-focused learning stories or developmental records. ✦ A collaborative spirit — you enjoy co-creating with colleagues as much as you enjoy leading in the classroom. ✦ Current first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date). ✦ Satisfactory background/police clearance check, as required for working with children. ✦ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage professionally with families and staff. NICE TO HAVE Desirable Qualities ✦ Experience with digital documentation platforms ✦ Specialization in early childhood education or special needs. ✦ Fluency in a second language spoken within our community. ✦ Leadership or mentoring experience with early-career educators or student teachers. 📈 Ongoing PD Funded professional development and conference attendance. 💰 Competitive Pay ⏳ Prep Time Protected non-contact planning time built into every week. Salary reviewed annually; above-award rates for experienced educators. We warmly welcome applications from educators of all backgrounds, including First Nations peoples, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. 🌟 Supportive Team A collaborative, reflective staff culture that truly values you. 🏫 Beautiful Spaces Purpose-built, well-resourced learning environments you'll love.
