Job Description: Production Supervisor


Department: Production

Reports To: Production Manager

Location: SNN Foods Private Limited

Role Purpose:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing shop-floor operations, coordinating workers, ensuring daily production targets are achieved, maintaining quality standards, and accurately recording production and stock data. The supervisor acts as the bridge between workers and management and is fully accountable for production output during the assigned shift.



Key Responsibilities


1. Production Planning & Execution


* Execute the daily production plan provided by the Production Manager.

* Allocate manpower according to production requirements.

* Ensure machines, materials, and manpower are ready before production starts.

* Monitor production progress throughout the shift.

* Achieve daily production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and timelines.

* Minimize downtime and production losses.


2. Worker Coordination


* Assign duties to operators, helpers, and packers.

* Maintain friendly and respectful relationships with workers.

* Motivate the team to meet production goals.

* Resolve minor conflicts and discipline issues on the shop floor.

* Train new workers on SOPs and safety practices.


3. Quality Control Support


* Ensure workers follow approved production and packaging procedures.

* Monitor product quality during production.

* Immediately report any quality deviations to QA/QC and Production Manager.

* Prevent mixing, contamination, or incorrect labeling.


4. Production Reporting & Data Entry


* Record hourly and daily production output.

* Enter production data into ERP/software/register.

* Track wastage, rejections, and machine downtime.

* Prepare and submit shift production reports.


5. Inventory & Stock Monitoring


* Verify availability of raw materials and packaging materials.

* Monitor consumption versus standards.

* Report shortages to Stores and Production Manager.

* Ensure proper handling and storage of materials on the shop floor.


6. Manpower Management


* Monitor attendance, punctuality, and absenteeism.

* Reallocate manpower to critical operations when required.

* Recommend additional manpower when needed.


7. Hygiene, Safety & Compliance


* Ensure GMP, hygiene, and safety practices are followed.

* Verify workers wear uniforms, gloves, masks, and hairnets.

* Maintain clean and organized work areas.

* Follow company SOPs and compliance requirements.


8. Equipment Monitoring


* Check that machines are operating properly.

* Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns.

* Ensure equipment is cleaned after use.


9. Communication


* Report production status and issues to the Production Manager.

* Coordinate with QA, Stores, and Maintenance.

* Conduct shift handovers.

* Raw and packing material control.

* Maintaining quality standards.

* Reducing wastage.

* Ensuring discipline on the shop floor.

* Do not leave the production area without informing the manager.

* Resolve issues calmly and professionally.

* Verify materials before starting production.

* Ensure correct batch coding and labeling.

* Report deviations immediately.

* Follow FIFO/FEFO where applicable.



Daily Checklist for Production Supervisor


Before Production


* Check attendance.

* Confirm manpower allocation.

* Verify material availability.

* Ensure machine readiness.

* Confirm cleaning and line clearance.


During Production


* Monitor output.

* Check quality.

* Control wastage.

* Record entries.

* Address worker issues.


End of Shift


* Reconcile production and stock.

* Complete reports.

* Clean the area.

* Conduct shift handover.

Educational Qualification


* Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

* 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing.



Authority Level


The Production Supervisor has authority to:


* Assign and rotate workers.

* Stop production for safety or quality concerns.

* Escalate material shortages or breakdowns.

* Recommend disciplinary action when necessary.



Reporting Format


The Production Supervisor will submit:


* Daily production report

* Wastage report

* Downtime report

* Attendance report

* Material consumption report

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, workers are effectively managed, output targets are met, and all production and stock records are accurately maintained.
