Job Description
A bike mechanic builds, repairs, and maintains bicycles to ensure they are safe and fast. Their main duties include diagnosing mechanical issues, tuning gears, replacing worn-out parts like tires and brakes, and advising customers on necessary repairs. [1, 2]
Core Responsibilities
- Diagnostics: Inspect bikes to find out why they are not working correctly.
- Maintenance: Clean, grease, and oil bike parts so they move smoothly.
- Repairs: Fix flat tires, tighten chains, and replace broken brakes or gears.
- Customer Service: Talk to the rider about the problem and give cost estimates before starting work.
- Safety Checks: Test ride the bike to make sure it is safe to ride. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Skills & Tools
- Tools: Must know how to use tools like wrenches, cable cutters, and special tension testers.
- Modern Tech: E-bikes are popular, so mechanics often need to know how to fix electric motors and electronic gears.

- Physical: Must be strong enough to lift bikes and use their hands for precise work.
