Caregiver Job Responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Safety

Assist patients with daily activities: bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.

Maintain patient hygiene including diaper changing, bed bath, and oral care.

Ensure patient safety at all times—prevent falls, maintain clean surroundings, and follow infection-control practices.

Help bedridden or paralyzed patients with turning, positioning, and pressure sore prevention.

2. Medication & Health Monitoring

Provide medication reminders strictly as per the doctor’s prescription.

Observe and report any changes in health conditions—fever, breathing difficulty, pain, weakness, confusion, etc.

Record daily vitals when required (BP, sugar, pulse, temperature).

3. Emotional & Companionship Support

Offer emotional comfort and mental support to patients, especially elderly, cancer, or palliative care patients.

Engage patients in light conversation, activities, and routine to reduce loneliness and anxiety.

4. Household Assistance

Maintain patient’s room clean and organized.

Assist with simple household tasks related to the patient: warming food, cleaning feeding area, arranging medicines.

Support in preparing light meals if required for the patient.

5. Mobility & Rehabilitation Assistance

Help the patient walk, move, or shift positions using proper techniques.

Support physiotherapy exercises as guided by the therapist.

6. Communication & Reporting

Maintain clear communication with the family members and the supervisor at SVT Home Healthcare.

Report any emergency immediately to the family and SVT office.

Follow instructions given by nurses, doctors, and supervisors.

7. Professional Conduct

Be punctual, disciplined, and maintain professional behavior.

Respect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Follow SVT rules regarding shift timings, leave notice period, and ethical care standards.

8. Emergency Support

Handle basic emergencies like breathing difficulty, falls, sudden pain, vomiting, or unresponsiveness.

Call SVT supervisor and inform the family immediately for quick action.
