Continental Cook

Job Summary:

The Continental Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of dishes from continental cuisine with consistent quality, taste, and presentation. The role requires sound knowledge of European cooking styles, attention to detail, and adherence to kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook continental dishes such as soups, salads, pastas, grilled meats, sauces, sandwiches, and desserts.

Assist in mise en place: chopping, marinating, portioning, and pre-preparation before service.

Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to maintain consistency.

Ensure proper presentation and garnishing of dishes before service.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen as per food safety guidelines.

Monitor food stock levels and report shortages or requirements to the Chef.

Check freshness of ingredients and ensure proper storage of raw and cooked items.

Support kitchen team during service to ensure timely food preparation and delivery.

Follow all health and safety regulations and kitchen SOPs.

Assist in developing new continental dishes when required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Continental Cook or Commis in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.

Strong knowledge of continental cooking techniques (grilling, sautéing, roasting, baking, etc.).

Good knife-handling and food-preparation skills.
