Field Service Technician

Key ResponsibilitiesA. On-Site Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Perform root cause analysis to identify if failures are electrical (motor/panel), mechanical (pump end), or hydraulic (piping/suction).
• Conduct electrical checks: measure voltage, amperage (load), and continuity; inspect control panels, starters (DOL/Star-Delta), and capacitors.
• Perform mechanical checks: identify air-locks, foot-valve leakage, bearing noise, coupling misalignment, and vibration.
• Check for dry run/low voltage conditions and guide customers on preventive measures.

B. Installation & Commissioning

• Install pumps on base plates/foundations and complete suction/delivery pipe connections.
• Carry out laser or dial-gauge alignment of pump and motor shafts to avoid premature wear.
• Execute start-up: verify rotation, prime the pump, and set flow/valves to achieve required pressure/head.
• Configure smart digital panels and auto-level controllers (float switches).

C. Maintenance & Minor Repairs

• Perform preventive maintenance (AMC visits): greasing bearings, tightening terminals, checking gland packing/mechanical seals.
• Handle on-site fixes: replace capacitors, cooling fans, terminal blocks, pressure switches, and similar minor parts.
• Safely decouple and remove heavy motors/submersibles for workshop repair and coordinate transport.

D. Customer Service & Reporting

• Explain technical issues and solutions to customers in simple, easy-to-understand language.
• Fill out Field Service Reports (FSR): record faults, parts replaced, and time spent; obtain customer sign-off.
• Suggest recommended spares/replacements to improve reliability and reduce future breakdowns.

Qualifications & SkillsEducation

• ITI (Electrician/Fitter) or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of control panels (contactors, relays, overload relays).
• Understanding of basic hydraulics: head, flow, suction lift, cavitation.
• Hands-on ability to use multimeters, clamp meters, and tachometers.

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid two-wheeler driving licence; own vehicle preferred.
• Physically fit to handle equipment and work in tight spaces (pump rooms, basements, etc.).
• Willingness to travel across the city daily for site visits.
