Associate Director

General Accounting Senior Manager

  • Proposed designation – Associate Director

  • Role type – Team Management

Roles & responsibilities: 

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Manager to lead a Finance & Accounting team supporting General Accounting at KGS. The Clients’ General Accounting process area performs tasks related to maintaining the general ledger, reconciliations, analysis, and preparing and processing journal entries. The Senior Manager will provide executive-level leadership to a team located in our KGS and JESS delivery centers, ensure quality and risk compliance, and foster a high-performing, inclusive team. The role will also champion automation and data-driven insights across close, consolidation, and reporting processes, and oversee practice economics using key financial metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery 

  • Ultimately responsible for ensuring service delivery is in line with operational and contractual performance standards

  • Has in-depth knowledge of each process area and serves as an advisor to team members

  • Ensures work is allocated by level according to skillset, complexity, and capacity within each team

  • Drives the deployment of strategic initiatives in partnership with the Client to continually support the delivery model and its objectives

  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy 

  • Prepares and delivers special complex reports and analyses, including performance reporting of the work product against contractual parameters

  • Provides input into contractual scope 

  • Lead month-end close and GL operations: accruals, prepayments, reclasses, recharges, reconciliations, and journal approvals; ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.

  • Design and improve internal controls; enhance documentation quality and audit readiness for internal and external audits.

  • Guide ERP/finance technology enablement (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud): chart of accounts, subledgers, close and reporting architecture; use consolidation tools (HFM/EPM).

  • Lead the KGS GA transformations and transitions: design TOM, manage knowledge transfer, stabilize operations, and baseline SLAs/KPIs.

  •  

  • Encourages and supports the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives such as automation and procedural enhancements

 

Stakeholder Relationship Management 

  • Main point of contact for Client Executive Stakeholders and Process Owners to communicate and collaborate 

  • Effectively communicates with the Client to understand any changes to Client’s departmental policies, processes and procedures, and implement affected changes

 

People Management 

  • Oversees the General Accounting delivery organization and is ultimately 

    responsible for the development and operational performance of all resources

  • Direct people management responsibility for the KGS GA team.

  • Provides direction and leadership, performs annual goal setting, recommendations on promotions or transfers, and manages personnel issues by implementing performance improvement plans

  • Interviews new team members and provides recommendations on team structure based on the delivery responsibilities

  • Train and coach staff on in-scope processes

  • Collaborates within KGS and JESS cross-functional departments to share best practices related to service delivery, team leadership, and reporting

 

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 12-15+ years of progressive experience spanning financial accounting, management accounting, controllership, and FP&A, with significant consulting and/or industry leadership

  • Chartered Accountant/CPA preferred; other professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CA) and advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) are highly desirable

  • Proven track record of managing transitions and integrating new roles effectively across US geographies and global delivery models

  • Demonstrated success driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service, including measurable cycle-time reductions and productivity benefits

  • Hands-on experience with ERP/cloud finance platforms (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud,) and close/reporting tools (HFM)

  • Experience implementing digital transformation solutions leveraging Data Analytics/GenAI to optimize month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting

  • Understanding of analytics and automation tools (MS Excel, Power BI/Tableau, SQL, Alteryx, VBA)

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with experience leading large teams (30-50+), establishing governance cadence, and developing talent
