About the department
You will be joining our Finance and Procurement Global Business Services (GBS) team in Bangalore. Established in 2007, Finance and Procurement GBS supports various finance functions for Novo Nordisk globally. As part of this role, you will be part of our Corporate Procurement team, which is responsible for the global indirect spend in Novo Nordisk of app. 90 billion DKK and for defining and driving the global procurement strategy. With 180 employees based in Denmark, 300 employees in India, and globally 500 people working in procurement, we are a strategic partner to the execution of the company’s strategy.

 

The position
As an Associate Lead in S2P Operational Excellence & Digital Transformation, you will be at the heart of cross-functional projects that enhance how Novo Nordisk's procurement and finance operations deliver value. You will combine deep digital project management expertise with cutting-edge digital skills—leveraging Generative AI, automation platforms, and intelligent process solutions—to manage projects from conception to completion, en-suring solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while championing operational excellence across our global business services.

 

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

• Leading end-to-end project management of cross-functional Procurement and Finance initiatives, ensuring delivery on budget, scope, and timeline
• Driving digital transformation initiatives by identifying automation opportunities across Source-to-Pay (S2P) processes and implementing solutions using AI tool and techniques – like Claude, OpenAI, Copilot Power Automate, Power Apps, VBA, and SAP Automation
• We need someone with a hands-on approach - Designing, developing, and deploying Generative AI solutions to enhance operational efficiency, including intelligent document processing, automated reporting, and AI-assisted decision support
• Building and maintaining Power Automate flows and Power Apps to digitize manual work-flows, reduce cycle times, and improve data accuracy across procurement operations
• Engaging with department leads and senior stakeholders across Procurement and Finance to scope, plan, track, and close operational excellence and digital transformation projects
• Contributing as a core team member in designing future processes aligned with GBS strategy
• Managing user acceptance testing (UAT) by assessing scenarios, identifying system flaws, and collaborating with testing teams, if any, to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved
• Acting as the voice of GBS Operations during change management, representing standardization requests with affiliates and supporting post-go-live stabilization
• Developing compelling project content and presentations for management, including executive level presentations, and strategic storytelling
• Preparing and tracking project plans, maintaining alignment with GBS SDO and GPO teams, and defining the right KPIs and risk mitigation strategies
• Staying current with emerging technologies and proactively proposing innovative digital solutions to enhance S2P processes

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for an Associate Lead who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and has a passion for driving operational excellence through digital transformation. Note that this is a Techno-functional role – you’ll be expected to directly deliver technical solutions that fit into the functional optimization of the S2P process, and therefore knowledge of developing these AI tools as well as a good degree of functional knowledge in the core areas of S2P is a key requirement.

 

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
• 10–15 years of experience in S2P or similar finance operations with technical expertise like MS Windows/XP, MS Office/Advanced Excel, MS Access, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, RPA, VBA and AI solution development
• Minimum 7+ years of project management experience with proven ability to resolve multiple dependencies across teams in different geographies
• Excellent oral and written communication and editorial skills, with experience working directly with management teams

 

Technical Knowledge & Digital Skills (Required)

 

• Proven experience in digital transformation and implementation projects within finance or S2P operations
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Open-AI/ChatGPT API integration, Azure AI Services etc.) for process automation and intelligent solutions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power Automate – ability to design, build, and maintain automated workflows including cloud flows, desktop flows, and business process flows
• Experience developing Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven apps) for custom business ap-plications that digitize manual processes
• Strong VBA programming skills for Excel automation, including macro development, data manipulation, and reporting automation
• Experience with SAP Automation – including SAP GUI scripting, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and integration with RPA tools (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate Desktop) for end-to-end process automation
• Deep Understanding of AI/ML and ability to identify use cases where Generative AI can enhance operational efficiency and develop/code solutions as required
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel advanced analytics) to support data-driven decision making

 

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data automation
• Knowledge of process mining tools (e.g., Celonis) for identifying optimization opportunities
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies for digital project delivery
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and AI cognitive services
• Knowledge of API integrations and data connectivity between platforms
• Experience in designing compelling, structured, and logical storyboards and translating business strategies into high-quality PowerPoint presentations
• SAP S/4HANA or SAP Ariba experience is advantageous
• RPA or AI certification (UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere) is a plus
