Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Connex Developer to lead the design, development, and support of high-volume, secure payment processing solutions. This role involves customizing and integrating Connex-based applications supporting financial transaction workflows, ensuring system stability, security, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance, support migrations, and implement automation, contributing to the organization’s digital improvement objectives.
Software Requirements
Required:
Extensive experience with Connex systems, including core modules such as AP, TH, PI, and SDX (version 16.1 or higher)
Strong proficiency in TAL/pTAL, TACL, Guardian, and COBOL for development, scripting, and support activities
Expertise with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) including data modeling and performance tuning
Experience with message formats based on AS2805 and ISO standards for payment processing
Hands-on experience supporting payment simulators (e.g., MasterCard, VISA, FINSIM)
Knowledge of system architecture, especially regarding complex payment workflows and integration points
Preferred:
Cloud deployment knowledge supporting hybrid or cloud-native Connex environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Support experience with system deployment, version management, and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible)
Familiarity with modern security practices like key management, PKI, and audit compliance standards
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the support and enhancement of Connex systems related to payment processing, ensuring high availability and security
Design and implement custom modules, workflows, and integrations aligned with client and industry standards
Support system migrations, upgrades, and new feature development, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to compliance standards
Collaborate with technical and business teams to analyze requirements, develop technical specifications, and deliver reliable solutions
Conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement preventive measures for system stability
Automate system processes and deployment tasks to support supportability and operational efficiency
Maintain detailed documentation on system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
Lead incident management activities, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution reporting
Technical Skills (By Category)
Languages & Scripting:
Required: TAL/pTAL, TACL, COBOL, Shell, Python (supporting automation support)
Preferred: Java, JavaScript, or other scripting languages supporting system integrations
Databases & Data Management:
Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL; experience with schema design, data validation, and performance tuning
System & Middleware Support:
Connex core modules, messaging standards (AS2805, ISO), and payment simulators support
Deployment & Automation:
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Terraform, Ansible, support automation tools supporting high-volume, compliant system deployment
Security & Compliance:
Implementation of encryption, PKI, key management, audit trails supporting PCI DSS and industry standards
Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience supporting or developing Connex or similar payment systems in enterprise environments
Proven success supporting high-availability, high-throughput payment applications
Hands-on experience with payment messaging standards, batch processing, and system integrations
Experience supporting system upgrades, migrations, and automation projects supporting regulatory compliance
Industry experience in banking, financial services, or fintech preferred but not mandatory
Day-to-Day Activities
Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise Connex payment systems and workflows
Support system upgrades, custom module development, and integrations supporting transaction processing
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, security, and connectivity issues
Automate deployment, configuration, and support activities through scripting and support tools
Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams on system improvements
Conduct root cause analyses, process reviews, and incident management activities
Maintain comprehensive documentation including configuration, architecture, and operational procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field
5+ years of experience supporting and customizing Connex-based financial systems
Certifications related to financial or support systems are a plus
Proven ability to support secure, scalable, and high-performance payment ecosystems in enterprise settings
