GDT serves over 190 locations and through a network of specialized service lines and partners delivers insights and innovations, user experiences and end-to-end seamless delivery making Unilever Purpose Led and Future Fit.

Background

Unilever is simplifying its technology landscape through the Mirai transformation programme. The programme brings together the move from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, the simplification of the application estate, and the redesign of critical end-to-end business processes across ERP and non-ERP platforms.

Mirai is a business-critical transformation that will deliver a more standardised, resilient, and future-ready technology estate. It supports the broader operating model changes required to enable productivity, process harmonisation, and sustainable growth across markets and business groups.

The migration to SAP S/4HANA will materially change the way business processes, integrations, data flows, controls, reports, background jobs, and support processes operate. Quality assurance therefore needs to go beyond functional testing of individual products and ensure end-to-end business scenarios are proven across the full technology stack, while also preparing the BAU organisation for a stable transition into post-go-live support.

Purpose of Job

  • Independent quality assurance authority for Mirai & Protects release quality and BAU stability.

  • Acts as the official QA gate safeguarding end-to-end quality across SAP & Non-SAP products / processes and adherence to ~85% SAP FTS objective.

  • Advances AI-enabled, increasingly autonomous quality engineering.

  • Ensures BAU readiness for stable Day 1 support.

  • Builds the foundation for a future enterprise Testing CoE

Key Accountabilities

1. End-to-End Test Strategy and Governance

  • Define and own the integrated test strategy covering SAP S/4HANA and in-scope non-SAP systems across SIT, UAT, regression, cutover rehearsal, and hypercare readiness.

  • Establish test governance, entry and exit criteria, quality gates, reporting cadence, and defect management processes across the programme.

  • Ensure test planning is aligned to programme milestones, release sequencing, deployment waves, and business readiness expectations.

2. Quality Gate, Assurance and Defect Governance

  • Act as the independent QA gate for the Mirai programme, challenging the adequacy of test scope, evidence, defect closure, and release readiness across SAP S/4HANA and the wider technology landscape.

  • Ensure that quality decisions are based on risk-informed criteria rather than schedule pressure, with clear escalation where unresolved issues, control weaknesses, or unstable changes could create downstream risk for cutover, hypercare, or BAU.

  • Prevent defect leakage into business operations by ensuring issues are assigned to the right owners and are addressed before release, while maintaining traceability from requirements and design through to test scenarios, execution evidence, defect resolution, and sign-off.

3. End-to-End Business Process Assurance

  • Ensure critical business scenarios are validated across process chains that span SAP and non-SAP platforms, including upstream and downstream dependencies, data flows, batch schedules, and operational controls.

  • Work with business process owners and SMEs to confirm that testing reflects real business outcomes, high-risk exceptions, and country or market-specific considerations where applicable.

  • Coordinate integrated testing for interfaces, reports, analytics, reconciliation points, background jobs, and operational hand-offs.

4. Leadership, Stakeholder Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead internal and partner test teams across geographies, setting clear priorities, driving execution discipline, and fostering a culture of quality ownership and transparency.

  • Provide concise, risk-based reporting to programme leadership, product leadership, business stakeholders, and service leads.

  • Use lessons learned, defect themes, and test outcome trends to continuously improve quality engineering practices, automation opportunities, and future release readiness.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in quality assurance, test management, or quality engineering across large-scale enterprise transformations.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP ECC / SAP S/4HANA landscapes, with sound understanding of configuration-led solutions, custom developments, integrations, reports, controls, and business process dependencies, sufficient to challenge quality risks and support BAU readiness.

  • Proven experience leading SIT and UAT for complex technology landscapes spanning SAP and non-SAP platforms.

  • Strong appreciation of how testing supports operational readiness, service transition, hypercare, and post-go-live stability.

  • Experience in defect governance, risk-based test management, quality metrics, release quality gates, and executive reporting.

  • Ability to work across global teams and multiple vendors, influencing without direct authority and holding teams accountable for outcomes.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex risks and decisions for senior leadership.

  • Exposure to test automation, release management, environment readiness, and data validation approaches will be an advantage.
