What’s the role
The IT Operations Engineer will become a key player in operating Shell’s BTP applications hosted on central SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). You will work together with Service Management teams to deliver stable, reliable and secure applications to business end users. The tasks will be done in close cooperation with Application Support colleagues, Project Delivery team (CoE) and vendors primarily SAP.
What you’ll be doing
As a BTP Applications Operations Engineer, you are responsible to help resolve issues ensuring business continuity for Shell’s BTP applications hosted on BTP platform. The role offers the opportunity to upskill in BTP application development across 50+ applications on cloud foundry requiring strong development skills to investigate issues, identify bugs, determine root cause and to define and implement fixes to deliver stable application state.
You will support the BTP Operations Landscape Manager to analyze and resolve operational incidents:
- Provide second line operational IT support for BTP Applications including ticket resolution
- Work on incidents raised against BTP Applications
- Work on problem tickets to find the root cause of a problem or incident.
- Work with release management team for change deployment
- Support incidents per Business Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Resolve escalated multi-discipline technical application and infrastructure incidents end to end per business SLA.
- Cooperate with support and project management teams on KT, S&T deliverables, and support in AtD and AtO
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and provide feedback on the delivered service from suppliers
What you bring
- Bachelor’s in Technology or related degree with minimum 5 years’ experience in the industry
- Conceptual understanding of BTP CF as platform and coding standards
- Concepts of BTP application development
- Fiori Configs for SAP BTP/SCP
Knowledge and experience in below:
- SAP BTP application development on Cloud foundry including security
- HTML5, jQuery, CSS3, JavaScript
- CAP (Node/Java) & (UI5 advanced & SAP Fiori) development
- SAP HANA (sql script, procedures, calculation views)
- DevOps (GitHub Actions, pipelines)
- S/4 HANA Extensibility (In-App & Side-by-side)
- SAP BTP CF operations (subaccounts, roles, transport)
- Monitoring, logs, and observability
- SAP BTP services lifecycle, CF runtime mastery
- Workflow, Business Rules, Launchpad service
- Knowledge of scripting languages and automation
- Hands-on experience in BTP development projects
- Basic knowledge in Dependabot, Apiiro and CI/CD
- Code review
- Security vulnerability notes & CVE notes – Assess impact, relevancy and plan and deploy remediation
- Perform application updates as part of evergreening
- Experience in IT Service Management.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Good customer liaison skills across all organization levels
- Work well under pressure. Deliver solutions fast, but to quality and in a compliant way.
- Able to work on shift to cover support users in other countries.
- Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Good time management skills, ability to multitask to manage conflicting requirements
- Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- Ability to work with teams from different cultures and in different time zones in a global, virtual environment.
