Job Summary:
The Infrastructure Analyst II – Data Protection & Storage Operations role supports the monitoring, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise Backup and Storage operations. The analyst works with Senior Engineers to maintain consistent backup and archival availability and capabilities, supports incident troubleshooting, and participates in standard operating procedures and documentation. The role provides hands-on operational experience with Commvault, Avamar and StorCycle and exposure to enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, IBM, HPE, Dell, Isilon, ECS), with an expectation to grow automation and scripting skills.
Job Expectations:
- Monitor and support daily backup and archival operations using Commvault, Avamar and StorCycle; ensure backups complete successfully and retention policies are applied.
- Perform restore requests, validations, and basic recovery activities following documented procedures and SLA expectations.
- Assist with onboarding systems into backup/archival platforms; maintain accurate inventory and configuration records.
- Support operational tasks across enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, IBM, HPE, Dell, Isilon, ECS) including basic provisioning requests, capacity checks, and health monitoring under supervision.
- Troubleshoot and perform initial triage for incidents; collect logs and evidence, escalate effectively, and participate in root-cause analysis.
- Execute and maintain runbooks and standard operating procedures; contribute to knowledge articles and operational documentation.
- Use and enhance scripts/automation provided by engineering teams (PowerShell/Python/Bash); identify repetitive tasks and propose automation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and audit requirements related to backups, restores, retention, and archival.

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:
Required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or associate Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience
- 4-7 years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure operations (Backup, Storage, Virtualization, or related areas).
- Hands-on operational experience with at least one enterprise backup tool (Commvault, Avamar, or equivalent); exposure to archival tools such as StorCycle is a plus.
- Working knowledge of block/file/object storage concepts and common protocols (NFS/CIFS/S3/FC).
- Experience supporting VMware and/or other virtualization technologies.
- Basic scripting exposure (PowerShell/Python/Bash) or demonstrated aptitude to learn automation and APIs.
License/Certification/Registration
- Entry-to-mid level certifications in Storage/Data Protection (vendor or industry) preferred.
Preferred
- Experience supporting enterprise storage platforms such as NetApp, Dell/EMC (Isilon/ECS), IBM, or HPE.
- Experience in regulated environments with retention, audit, and security requirements (SOX, privacy).
- Relevant entry-level certifications in storage, data protection, or cloud.
