This role requires hands-on ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to high-performance, scalable embedded design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design embedded hardware platforms for power electronics systems, including control boards, analog/digital, mixed-signal interface design, sensor integration, and protection strategy implementation for DC/DC, AC/DC, and inverter topologies.
- Control & Interface Hardware Design
- Sensing, Measurement and I/O Circuits
- Power Supply & Auxiliary Circuits
- Protection circuits
- Digital logic circuits
- Perform schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout reviews with a focus on signal integrity, thermal reliability, and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Conduct hardware bring-up, interface testing, and system-level debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and power analysers.
- Simulate the circuit subsystems analog circuits, signal conditioning etc.
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IEC, UL standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (power electronics, mechanical, systems, validation, certification) to define control architectures, timing constraints, safety-critical behaviours and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
- Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, firmware architecture, test protocols, ICD’s, safety plans, and verification reports
- Support DFM, DFMEA, and HIL testing activities, contributing to design refinement and product maturity from prototype to production.
- Testing of the boards along with the full units.
- Develop requirements for the cards based on the application.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- B.TECH or M.Tech in Electronics, Power Electronics, or a related discipline.
- 10-18+ years of experience in embedded hardware design and development for power electronic systems in automotive, renewable, or industrial sectors.
- Full design cycle experience for control card hardware is mandatory.
- Understanding of power electronics converter control.
- Strong hands-on experience with development of control boards using microcontrollers or DSPs or FPGAs,
- Expertise in designing Analog front-end circuits , ADC/PWM interfaces, High-voltage/low-voltage signal conditioning, digital circuits, Isolation and protection circuits
- Hardware interfaces for communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I²C, UART)
- · Solid background in schematic design, PCB layout practices, and tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad etc
- · Experience with LAB tools (such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, etc.)
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation, analog/digital mixed signal interfacing, thermal design, and high-voltage design practices
- Exposure to model-based design and simulation environment (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-voltage power converters, traction inverters, or motor drive control systems
- Understand embedded C/C++, real-time control development, real-time system programming, peripheral configuration
