Mainframe Developer (COBOL/JCL)

Job Title: Mainframe Developer (COBOL/JCL)

Experience Required:

4 to 7 years

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Developer with hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and CICS. The candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting mainframe applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Perform coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of mainframe programs
  • Work on batch job processing and job scheduling
  • Handle production support, incident management, and issue resolution
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement fixes for recurring issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system enhancements
  • Maintain proper documentation for applications and processes

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and CICS
  • Good understanding of mainframe architecture and batch processing
  • Experience working in production support environments
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of DB2 (preferred)
  • Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M)

Soft Skills:

  • Good communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
