Job Description:
- Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory and Support (Functional): - Contract management –Lead end-to-end lifecycle of commercial contracts including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and execution. Mitigate contractual risks and ensure alignment with company policies
- Collaborate closely with business, HR, CRE, Finance, Procurement teams, Admin, Security teams
- Notice & Litigation management – Drafting of criminal complaints, Legal Notices, replies to notices issued by statutory/government bodies etc. Assisting in management of litigations filed by/against Carelon.
- Provide strategic legal guidance to internal stakeholders on business operations and risk mitigation.
- Stay updated on legal trends, legislative changes, and best practices to guide the organization effectively.
- Support policy development, implementation and data governance (including code of conduct, data protection, etc.)
- Liaise with external legal counsel and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Develop and standardize contract templates and playbooks
- Provide legal guidance on employment laws, HR policies, disciplinary proceedings, actions, and employee disputes. Support HR in investigations, terminations, to ensure compliance with labour regulations
- Review and update employment agreements, policies and handbooks
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on legal risks and business decisions
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal governance frameworks
- Drive legal awareness and training across teams
- Manage external counsel and optimize legal spend
- Support cross functional projects, including strategic initiatives and audits
Operational & Managerial:
- Providing mentorship, guidance and performance feedback to Legal Associates, Senior Legal Associates, Team Leads and direction to ensure professional growth and excellence.
- Monitor Legal team’s performance and implement strategies to enhance productivity and engagement and support business objectives.
- Foster a collaborative team environment while addressing concerns and resolving conflicts effectively.
- To achieve performance objectives and deliver timely feedback through regular evaluations.
- Supervise the preparation, review and negotiation of contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
- Allocate and manage team workloads to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Develop and refine processes to streamline legal operations and improve efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of all legal matters, reports, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex or high-priority legal issues.
- Overseeing legal operations and support internal audits and investigations as needed.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management.
Technical:
IT SKILLS: MS Office, Windows, PPT, Internet Applications and AI
CORE LEGAL COMPETENCIES:
- Legal Research, stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization, Legal Advisory, Drafting, Vetting of Legal Documentation, Contracts and Negotiation of Contracts, Litigation Management, statutory and legal notice management, Legal Compliance, Corporate Secretarial and Due Diligence.
- Handle Contract lifecycle management tools.
- Project management skills.
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from premier law college is required
- LLM would be an added advantage, though not mandatory
EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house exposure managing multiple, complex, strategic, issues, transactions for multiple jurisdictions, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong expertise in contract law, Indian employment/labour laws, technology, data protection,, intellectual property laws, commercial and regulatory law
- Experience in handling complex negotiations and dispute resolution
- Flexibility to work and support business operating in US time Zones.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, ability to multi-task, managing deadlines to meet deadlines and prioritize work
- Strong business and organizational skills. Sound judgment and ability to analyze situations, facts, and information and full comprehension of the external environment influence the Company’s business operations
- Effective drafting and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills with effective communication at all levels of the organization and the ability to maintain strong relationships within various functions
- Ethics and high integrity
- Broad and deep knowledge of local/regional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Developed awareness of how to operate successfully in multiple international legal environments.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail – Drive strategic initiatives, strong commitment, ability to take ownership, ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Self-starter with a keen desire to succeed and contribute to the business

- High levels of personal and professional integrity, ability to maintain absolute confidentiality wherever required and maintain professional ethics.
