We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

As the Engineering Manager for the PayPal.com Marketing Web Platform, you will lead the team that builds and operates the platform powering PayPal's global marketing presence across 200+ markets.

You will own the delivery, reliability, and evolution of a headless CMS-based platform that enables marketing teams to launch campaigns, drive acquisition, and scale PayPal's brand. This includes ownership of page performance, SEO, analytics, accessibility, and integration with marketing technologies such as personalization engines and tag management systems.

You will balance strong technical leadership with operational excellence—driving roadmap execution and partnering with Marketing, Product, Analytics, and Design to deliver scalable platform capabilities. You will build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentorship, and a culture of accountability and innovation.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Directly manages software development projects (including program management) and execution through individual contributors. May also lead project teams across platforms or groups
• Implements processes to drive strong operational hygiene for all components and systems within their group
• Responsible for the delivery of projects, including quality and timeliness, that impact their domain and potentially one other
• Demonstrates strong tactical ability by managing the roadmap for a scrum team responsible for technical issues of diverse scope where analysis requires an understanding of current business or tends
• Competent at communicating technical issues with non-technical audiences
• Analyzes multiple sources of information and identifies & resolves complex technical, operational, and organizational problems relating to software development.
• Collaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders such as Product Owners & PMO

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years managing web or platform engineering teams

• Strong experience building and scaling modern web platforms using technologies such as React.js, Next.js, and Node.js

• Deep understanding of headless CMS architectures (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful) and content publishing workflows

• Experience with web performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) and large-scale traffic patterns

• Solid understanding of SEO technical fundamentals including server-side rendering, structured data, and crawlability

• Experience with CDN and edge caching strategies to improve performance and reliability at scale

• Familiarity with web analytics and experimentation frameworks (Google Analytics, A/B testing platforms)

• Experience integrating third-party marketing technologies such as personalization engines (e.g., Adobe Target) and tag management systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager) to enable experimentation, targeting, and campaign measurement at scale

• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+) and cross-browser/device compatibility

• Proven ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Marketing, Product, Analytics, Legal) to deliver business outcomes

• Demonstrated success in hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent, including performance management and career growth

• Experience driving execution through agile development processes and improving engineering productivity

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
