Principle Architect - Shopify Specialist

What success looks like in this role:

• Provides architectural advice and consultation across major program and solution initiatives.
• Actively drives the definition of engineering standards and technologies / frameworks and leads associated working groups.
• Assists in the identification, analysis and resolution of technology, information management, product development and associated infrastructure problems.
• Offers guidance on technical aspects of infrastructure systems development and integration to ensure strategies, roadmaps, policies, standards and practices are properly aligned.
• Defines subsystems and their interfaces, allocating responsibilities, understanding solution deployment and communicating requirements for interactions with overall solution context.
• Recommends improvements to organizational structures, technology and processes that increase organizational effectiveness.
• Owns the technical viability of the solution in scope.

Technical Skills & Qualifications for Shopify Specialist:

• Proven experience architecting and managing Shopify environments, specifically for B2B or enterprise-level business models.
• Deep proficiency in Shopify Admin APIs (REST and GraphQL).
• Advanced knowledge of Liquid, JavaScript (Node.js), and Python for building custom private apps and automation scripts.
• Hands-on experience integrating third-party payment providers and managing settlement flows.
• Experience working with Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, or similar ETL tools to sync data between Shopify and external ERPs (like ServiceNow or a Master DB).
• Familiarity with PCI DSS standards, OAuth authentication, and managing API credentials via secure vaults (e.g., Azure Key Vault).
• Lead the architectural design and conduct architectural reviews, gap analysis, and solution assessments.
• Debugging & Troubleshooting: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues
•  Understanding of Agile and SDLC methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance to junior developers and ensure coding standards are followed.
• Communicate progress and challenges to project stakeholders.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
• Overall, at least 10+ years of experience, 5 years of relevant experience in Shopify Admin APIs (REST and GraphQL
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale solutions.
