Job Title: Manager – Tech Procurement
Location: Bangalore
Business & Team: Group Procurement (GP) is responsible for supporting the bank’s Technology function to procure world leading technology solutions, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

Impact & contribution: The Category Manager Procurement is responsible for supporting and co-managing procurement activities across a designated portfolio, including operational support and sourcing activities. The scope includes but is not limited to procurement of software, SaaS, hardware, managed services and other technology services for the Technology business unit.
GP team members are expected to perform all tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values, namely Courage, Care and Commitment.
Within the Technology scope and business unit, the Category Manager manages activities including Stakeholder Relationship Management, Development of Procurement Strategies, Business Analytics, Sourcing Management, Contract & Supplier Management, and Risk & Compliance
GP delivers benefits and mitigates risk to enable our customers to achieve their business goals. We do this through applying specialist knowledge across the procurement lifecycle.
Roles & Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for technology procurement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Delivery & Category Planning
- Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for technology categories, including software, SaaS, hardware and managed services arrangements.
- Deliver on agreed targets and objectives through the implementation of strategic or tactical procurement strategies/plans to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while ensuring scalability and security.
- Interact directly with Technology stakeholders and business leaders from various business units in Australia to develop, manage and execute the agreed integration and procurement strategies.
Stakeholder Reporting
- Lead pipeline creation monthly, maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date views of initiatives, priorities, and progress across multiple workstreams across all Technology procurement portfolios.
- Develop, maintain, and analyse complex datasets using advanced Excel to support pipeline management, forecasting, and leadership reporting.
- Prepare high‑quality reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership, translating data into clear insights, trends, and recommendations.
- Act as a central coordination point to ensure alignment across teams, leadership cadence, and delivery milestones.
Contracting & Legal
- Lead contract negotiation, implementation, and compliance with Procurement lifecycle and banking regulations for technology procurement activities.
Risk Management
- Demonstrate a full and comprehensive understanding of risk and risk processes
- Provide and deploy appropriate process and governance to address all aspects of risk
- Ensure that you, comply with Group policies and procedures and any relevant external legislative requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including business unit leaders, and risk partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor on technology procurement matters, influencing decision-making and strategic direction.
Essential Skills:
- At least 10+ years’ direct and relevant experience in delivering end-to-end sourcing & Technology category management
- Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
- Solid ability to manage and influence stakeholders and work collaboratively with customers and suppliers,
- Advanced Excel expertise, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data validation, and large data set management.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise, and impactful reports and presentations (PowerPoint/Excel‑based) for executive audiences.
- Deep understanding of leading practice procurement technology
- Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively, as one team
- Ability to think laterally and develop new and innovative solutions to problems
- Capability in procurement related risk management.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
