QA Automation Engineer | Selenium, API & CI/CD
Job Summary
Synechron seeks a detail-oriented QA Automation Engineer to enhance our testing capabilities through innovative automation frameworks and scripts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our software applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with development and QA teams to develop automation solutions that accelerate testing cycles, improve test coverage, and support continuous delivery goals. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering scalable, high-quality software that meets organizational standards and customer expectations.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Maven, and Jenkins for building and executing automation tests
Experience with JIRA or similar test management tools for defect tracking and test planning
Strong scripting skills in Java, supporting automation framework development
Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or RestAssured
Familiarity with database validation techniques and SQL for test data validation
Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments with CI/CD pipelines
Preferred Skills:
Experience with additional automation tools such as UFT or API testing tools like SoapUI
Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter)
Exposure to cloud test environments and automation workflows
Overall Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks supporting functional, regression, and system testing
Develop and execute automated test scripts, analyze results, and identify issues early in the SDLC
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to review requirements and refine testing strategies
Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts and testing environments, ensuring high reliability and accuracy
Expand automation coverage across new application features and regression suites
Document test plans, test cases, defect reports, and automation scripts for traceability and future reference
Support continuous integration by integrating test automation into build pipelines
Monitor automated test execution, analyze metrics, and report on quality status and areas of improvement
Promote best practices in test automation, code quality, and test documentation
Stay current with industry trends, testing tools, and practices to continually refine automation processes
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages:
Essential: Java (for scripting and framework development)
Preferred: Python (for advanced automation and scripting)
Testing Frameworks & Tools:
Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins (required)
API Testing: Postman, RestAssured (preferred)
Performance testing tools like JMeter (preferred)
Databases & Data Management:
SQL (Oracle, MySQL, or similar) for database validation and data-driven tests
Development & CI/CD Tools:
Git, Jenkins, Maven or Gradle for build automation and version control
Methodologies & Practices:
Test-driven development (TDD), continuous testing, and Agile practices
Monitoring & Reporting:
Tools integration for monitoring test results, logs, and defect tracking
Experience Requirements
3+ years of hands-on experience in automation testing within enterprise or web application environments
Proven track record of developing and maintaining automation frameworks using Selenium, TestNG, Maven, and Jenkins
Experience designing automation for API testing and database validation
Experience working in Agile teams supporting CI/CD pipelines and managing test automation in fast-paced, iterative environments
Experience improving test coverage and optimizing automation frameworks
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop, review, and refine automated test scripts based on project requirements
Run scheduled tests, analyze automation results, and document defects or anomalies
Troubleshoot automation failures, improve script reliability, and optimize test execution time
Collaborate with developers and QA teams for requirement reviews and test case design
Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless deployment workflows
Maintain and enhance automation frameworks and reusable components
Participate in sprint activities, including planning, grooming, retrospectives, and reviews
Stay informed on new tools, frameworks, and best practices to improve automation efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
3+ years of experience in enterprise automation testing, preferably in web and API testing
Proven expertise with Selenium, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins, and Java-based automation frameworks
Familiarity with database testing, SQL queries, and data validation techniques
Certifications in Test Automation or Agile practices (preferred)
