Senior Product Associate - Payments Product

As a Senior Product Associate in Global Payments within Commercial & Investment Banking you contribute to the team by leveraging your expertise in product development and optimization to make a significant impact, supported by user research and customer feedback to fuel the creation of innovative products and continuously improve existing offerings. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our products and ongoing success. You will shape the future of payment connectivity by building secure, scalable file transmission solutions in the Payments area. As a core leader in Digital Channels & Connectivity, you will drive new product development and incubation from discovery through launch, act as the voice of the customer, and deliver resilient, compliant payment products that developers love and clients trust. You’ll pair rigorous, data‑driven decisioning with an entrepreneurial mindset to accelerate adoption and impact.

Job responsibilities
  • Define and communicate product vision and strategy aligned to customer value, business goals, and measurable OKRs; translate strategy into a prioritized roadmap and resourcing plan.
  • Monitor the end to end transaction journey from file receipt through clearing, focusing on scalability, resiliency, stability, and observability.
  • Incubate and launch new connectivity capabilities (ISO 20022, SWIFT, H2H file exchange) using hypothesisdriven, iterative development and experimentation frameworks.
  • Partner across engineering, architecture, data science, finance, accounting, design, and controls to turn business requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
  • Establish clear rollout and changemanagement strategies (beta programs, phased enablement, training, client comms) to ensure successful launches and ongoing customer adoption.
  • Monitor the endtoend transaction journey from file receipt through clearing; drive improvements in scalability, resiliency, stability, and observability with data.
  • Define and track product and operational health metrics (OKRs, KPIs); build dashboards and insights to guide prioritization and postlaunch iteration.
  • Champion the product vision and align senior stakeholders through strong written and verbal communication; structure decisions and secure buyin across regions and lines of business.
  • Liaise with control partners to ensure adherence to internal policies, risk controls, and regulatory requirements; proactively identify and mitigate risks throughout the lifecycle.
  • Write epics, user stories, and Gherkin acceptance criteria; lead UAT planning and defect triage; prepare product documentation, training materials, and client communications.
  • Deliver both tactical enhancements and strategic platform capabilities that make file transmission channels more secure, operable, and commercially effective.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 5+ years in product, delivering discoverytolaunch workstreams with increasing scope. 3+ years in product, delivering discovery‑to‑launch workstreams with increasing scope.
  • Demonstrated crossfunctional leadership with engineering, design, marketing/comms, data science, finance, accounting, and controls; strong stakeholder management across senior audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a datadriven approach to prioritization and decisionmaking; ownership mindset with high autonomy.
  • Proven track record launching new products/features that achieved measurable business impact (e.g., adoption, cycletime reduction, reliability).
  • Secure connectivity and standards expertise: ISO 20022, SWIFT; H2H integrations and enterprise file transmission; protocols and security (SFTP/FTPS, HTTPS/API)
  • Experience with enterprise file transmission protocols and security: SFTP/FTPS, HTTPS/API with mTLS, AS2/EBICS; encryption/signing via PGP/GPG, X.509; key management (HSM/PKI).
  • Experience streamlining client connectivity and onboarding processes, reducing cycle times and enhancing the client experience.
  • Analytics and Tooling: Proficiency with Tableau and Grafana for KPI dashboards; familiarity with enterprise logging/metrics/tracing and operational runbooks.

  • Payments domain knowledge: global payments and cash management (US & global wires, US & global ACH, RTP, SEPA SCT/SCT Inst, BACS/FPS, checks); familiarity with clearing and settlement rails.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Experience with Agile delivery and tooling (e.g., Jira) and writing behaviordriven requirements (Gherkin).

     

     

     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience building business insights products or working with data platforms that inform product and operational decisions.
  • Handson with iterative, hypothesisdriven product development, experimentation, and A/B or pilot frameworks. 
  • Experience integrating artifacts into developer portals/Docs systems to enable selfservice and reduce support burden.
  • Accessibility knowledge and practical application of ADA/WCAG guidelines in digital products.
  • Familiarity with US and nonUS clearing and settlement rails and industrysupported file formats.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with project/program management tools.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and trends shaping payments (e.g., realtime payments expansion, ISO migration, open banking, API security, event streaming).
