Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience in developing accessible technologies.
• Experience with two or more of the following: Spanner, Guice, Flume, queues, SQL, distributed data processing systems, data integrity, and onduty processes.

Google Photos Storage Infrastructure team is designing the next generation of infrastructure for Google Photos.

In this role, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the abstractions and performance characteristics of the metadata serving and blob storage stacks.
• Improve the system’s efficiency and scalability to reduce cost and to ensure that Photos can grow. Support feature teams by developing new infrastructure and frameworks that improve developer velocity and minimize bugs.
• Work with a variety of Google technologies. Solve problems at the intersection of storage and processing infrastructures.
• Engage with the Spanner, Blobstore, and Privacy teams to help bring the latest features and technologies into Photos.
• Collaborate with other Product Areas (e.g., Apps, Core, etc) to identify shared strategies to scale Photos. Partner with the Photos Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team to keep production running.
