About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer 2 with solid Python skills to join our engineering team at JLL Technologies. You will develop and maintain backend services and data platform components that power Azara, our AI-driven data intelligence platform for commercial real estate. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in Python who is eager to grow their skills in distributed systems, cloud-native development, and AI-integrated applications while contributing meaningfully to a production platform.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI) with Pydantic for data validation
• Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code following established team standards and design patterns
• Implement data access layers, caching logic (Redis), and integration points with internal and external services
• Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues with guidance from senior engineers

Data Integration & Processing

• Build and maintain data processing scripts and pipelines that interface with SQL databases, Redis, and Azure cloud storage
• Develop integration components connecting backend services with Databricks, analytics engines, and AI services
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformation logic
• Assist in implementing asynchronous task processing using Celery and message brokers

AI Augmentation & Agent Development

• Use AI-powered development tools (Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot) across the SDLC to enhance productivity in coding, testing, and documentation
• Build basic AI agents and AI-augmented automation for backend and data workflows under the guidance of senior engineers
• Actively explore and adopt emerging AI tools and practices for software development

Collaboration & Growth

• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
• Actively seek feedback and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, tech talks, and documentation efforts
• Progressively take ownership of features and components with increasing independence
• Stay current with Python ecosystem developments and emerging best practices

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with at least one Python web framework (FastAPI preferred, Django, or Flask)
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
• Understanding of RESTful API design principles, Pydantic data models, and HTTP protocols
• Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative development workflows
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud platform and deployment concepts
• Experience with AI-powered development tools (Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, or similar) for AI-augmented software development across the SDLC
• Ability to build basic AI agents or AI-augmented automation for backend and data workflows
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to code quality

• Cloud: Azure (App Services, Storage, Key Vault) basics

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrable Python development skills
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and principles
