Salesforce is looking for a technically strong, highly collaborative, and forward-thinking Software Engineering Leader to lead engineering teams building trusted, scalable, and customer-impacting products.

This role carries three core responsibilities: People Leadership, Process Leadership, and Product Leadership.

As a leader of leaders, you will build high-performing engineering teams, guide product and architectural decisions, and shape how modern engineering teams operate in an AI-augmented development environment. You will bring deep technical judgment, strong product intuition, and the ability to help engineers move beyond execution into higher-order system design, architecture, and customer impact.

You will partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality features at speed, while protecting architectural integrity, security, reliability, and engineering excellence.

Your Impact

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, engineers, and architects across one or more product areas.

  • Build teams that are technically strong, customer-aware, inclusive, and accountable for outcomes.

  • Coach engineers to work effectively in an AI-augmented environment, using AI to accelerate execution while growing deeper judgment in design, architecture, and problem solving.

  • Hire and develop future-ready engineering talent with strong fundamentals, product ownership, and AI fluency.

  • Maintain high morale, create clarity, and build a culture where learning, feedback, and technical excellence are expected.

Process Leadership

  • Own how AI tools are integrated into the team’s software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, reviews, debugging, and operational workflows.

  • Establish clear practices for when AI-generated output can accelerate work and when human review is required.

  • Drive disciplined execution across planning, delivery, release readiness, quality, security, and operational excellence.

  • Improve team productivity without compromising trust, maintainability, compliance, or customer outcomes.

  • Ensure teams have clear priorities, strong operating rhythms, and the right mechanisms to identify and resolve risks early.

Product Leadership

  • Partner with Product Management and Architecture to align priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and customer outcomes.

  • Make critical technical and product decisions that influence the success of the product.

  • Participate actively in architecture discussions, design reviews, roadmap planning, and cross-functional execution.

  • Serve as a guardian of architectural integrity as AI increases code velocity and system complexity.

  • Ensure teams connect engineering decisions to customer value, business impact, and long-term platform health.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading software engineering teams, including managers and senior technical talent.

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale distributed systems, microservices, or enterprise-grade product platforms.

  • Strong technical depth with the ability to evaluate architecture, design tradeoffs, code quality, system reliability, and operational readiness.

  • Hands-on fluency with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to guide teams in their effective, responsible use.

  • Experience building engineering practices around code reviews, CI/CD, testing, observability, release readiness, security, and production operations.

  • Ability to assess AI-generated code or designs for logic flaws, security risks, performance issues, maintainability, and architectural fit.

  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and evaluating engineers on both foundational engineering skills and AI-era capabilities such as prompting, AI output validation, and agentic workflow thinking.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence product, engineering, architecture, and executive stakeholders.

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity, minimal specifications, fast release cycles, and complex cross-functional dependencies.

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and modern product engineering practices.

Preferred Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce product and platform capabilities.

  • Experience leading teams building customer-facing enterprise SaaS products.

  • Ability to articulate the value of governance, trust, security, and architectural discipline to business and technical stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles.

  • Experience helping teams adopt AI tools responsibly across the SDLC.

  • Ability to quickly understand and explain complex technical and business concepts.

  • Deep curiosity for customer needs, product outcomes, and how engineering decisions create customer value.

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role, including work experience, leadership experience, volunteer roles, military experience, and other relevant contributions.
