Shape the future of Amazon Pay's data architecture as the technical leader of our Platform team. In this pivotal role, you'll architect and lead the development of enterprise-scale datamarts that serve as the backbone of our international operations. This unique position combines deep technical database architecture expertise with strategic business intelligence leadership across emerging markets.

Impact & Scope:

- Design and architect sophisticated database schemas and data models that power critical business decisions across multiple geographies
- Lead the technical vision for cross-market data integration, working with global infrastructure teams to create robust, scalable datamart solutions
- Drive the evolution of our data platform architecture, ensuring it serves as the single source of truth for business intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI/ML initiatives. Also enhance capabilities with introduction of RAG and Graph readiness.

Key job responsibilities
• Lead the architectural design and implementation of complex database schemas and data models that power Amazon Pay's international reporting platform.

• Drive technical excellence in data modeling and datamart design, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability across enterprise-wide solutions.

• Partner with global infrastructure teams to architect scalable ETL processes and data pipelines that align with worldwide tech stacks.

• Establish data quality frameworks through robust database design, implementing controls to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

• Translate complex business requirements into efficient database structures, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with reporting needs.

• Provide technical leadership to BIE team members, fostering innovation while ensuring timely delivery of platform solutions.

• Design and implement performance optimization strategies for large-scale datamarts, including partitioning, indexing, and query optimization.

• Partner with ML/AI teams to architect database solutions that support advanced analytics capabilities.

• Lead database architecture evolution initiatives, identifying opportunities for modernization and technical debt reduction.

• Serve as a technical authority for database design decisions, ensuring architectural alignment between local and global tech teams.

Basic Qualifications

- 10+ years of SQL experience
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling
- Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field
