The Senior Manager, IT Asset Management will provide strategic and operational leadership across enterprise Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) capabilities. This role will define and govern ITAM strategy, strengthen asset lifecycle controls, improve CMDB and ITAM data integrity, and drive automation across global asset management processes.
This role requires a leader who can operate across process, platform, data, compliance, and stakeholder governance, ensuring asset information is accurate, compliant, optimized, and fit for downstream processes including financial planning, risk management, compliance, security, and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the enterprise IT Asset Management strategy across HAM and SAM, including procure-to-retire lifecycle governance.
• Own and mature ITAM processes, standards, policies, controls, and governance frameworks across global teams.
• Drive alignment between ITAM, CMDB, Discovery, and ServiceNow platform processes to improve asset-to-CI relationships and data quality.
• Provide oversight for reconciliation logic, source priority, CI creation rules, and controls to prevent duplicate or inaccurate asset and CI data.
• Establish governance for ITAM data sources, integration mappings, mandatory attributes, reconciliation rules, and data quality controls.
• Lead software compliance, publisher true-ups, audit readiness, entitlement reconciliation, reclamation, and license optimization initiatives.
• Oversee hardware lifecycle governance, including inventory accuracy, refresh planning, asset recovery, disposal, and exception management.
• Drive automation and AI-enabled improvements to reduce manual effort across ITAM intake, fulfillment, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance activities.
• Define and track KPIs/OKRs for ITAM maturity, compliance posture, data quality, utilization, cost avoidance, and operational efficiency.
• Identify licensing, financial, operational, and compliance risks and drive mitigation plans.
• Lead global ITAM transformation programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor ITAM team members, process analysts, and functional SMEs on complex process, platform, and data topics.
• Represent ITAM in enterprise governance forums, audits, technology portfolio reviews, and transformation programs.
Required Skills & Experience
• 15+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Operations, CMDB, ServiceNow, or related enterprise technology governance roles.
• Proven leadership experience managing ITAM teams, programs, processes, or enterprise-wide asset management initiatives.
• Deep expertise in both Hardware Asset Management and Software Asset Management in large, complex, global enterprise environments.
• Strong functional understanding of ServiceNow ITAM, preferably HAM Pro and SAM Pro.
• Strong understanding of ServiceNow CMDB, CI classes, CI lifecycle, asset-CI relationships, discovery sources, and data governance.
• Strong knowledge of Identification and Reconciliation Engine, reconciliation rules, source priority, duplicate CI prevention, and CMDB-ITAM alignment.
• Experience with endpoint, discovery, and inventory platforms such as Intune, SCCM/MECM, Jamf, Axonius or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of software licensing models for major publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, VMware, IBM, SaaS vendors, and other enterprise software providers.
• Experience with software compliance reviews, publisher audits, entitlement reconciliation, license optimization, and true-up processes.
• Strong understanding of hardware lifecycle management, asset refresh planning, inventory governance, disposal, and compliance controls.
• Ability to define ITAM operating models, process controls, governance cadences, and data quality frameworks.
• Strong financial acumen, including cost optimization, cost avoidance, renewal planning, utilization analysis, and asset financial transparency.
• Working knowledge of ITIL, ITSM, Change, Incident, Request, Procurement, Finance, Security, and CMDB interdependencies.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive cross-functional alignment, and lead enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and drive outcomes in a complex global environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• ITIL Foundation certification or higher.
• Certified Software Asset Manager, Certified IT Asset Manager, or equivalent ITAM certification.
• ServiceNow ITAM certifications, including HAM Pro and/or SAM Pro.
• ServiceNow CSA, CIS-HAM, CIS-SAM, or related ServiceNow certifications.
• Experience leading ITAM transformation in a global shared services or Center of Excellence model.
• Experience with automation, AI-enabled workflows, predictive analytics, or process mining within ITAM or ServiceNow.
• Experience supporting complex global licensing structures, enterprise agreements, SaaS optimization, and vendor audit defense.
• Experience building executive dashboards, KPIs, and governance reporting for ITAM, CMDB, compliance, and cost optimization.
