Test Automation Engineer – Robot Framework

The Group has also established an MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility in Gurugram to provide comprehensive avionics maintenance and repair services to Indian airlines and support the growth of the local aviation industry.The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the automated test suite for MES and MPE applications using the Robot Framework. This role bridges the gap between manual testing and continuous integration, ensuring that regression packs run reliably within the CI/CD pipeline and that test automation coverage grows progressively.
- Design and implement the automated test framework architecture based on Robot Framework
- Develop, maintain and evolve automated test scripts for MES and MPE applications
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and supervise execution results
- Expand the automation coverage by identifying and prioritising automation candidates
- Ensure reliability and maintainability of the test automation suite
- Exchange actively with development team and business analyst team to accelerate function scenario description and functional scope clarification
Key Responsibilities
- Describe and detail functional scenario as test cases to automatize
- Design the overall test automation architecture (keywords, resources, test libraries) using Robot Framework for MES
- Design and define a robust solution for MPE application in Windchill context
- Develop and maintain robust automated test scripts covering functional and regression scenarios
- Write custom Python libraries to extend Robot Framework capabilities as needed
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI or equivalent)
- Analyse and interpret automated test execution results; investigate and fix flaky tests
- Maintain the Robot Framework (or other solution) resource library and ensure proper versioning in Git
- Define and track automation KPIs: coverage rate, execution reliability, maintenance overhead
- Collaborate with functional testers and RUN team to identify high-value automation candidates
- Work with DevOps team to ensure proper environment setup for automated test execution
- Produce technical documentation for the automation framework (architecture, setup, usage guidelines)
- Work on modularity, evolutivity and performance of automated tests asset to ensure daily execution
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Robot Framework (or other solution) – expert level (keywords, resource files, test libraries)
- Python – custom library development, scripting and debugging
- CI/CD integration: Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent
- REST API testing (RequestsLibrary or equivalent)
- Selenium / Playwright / Browser Library for UI automation
- Git version control and branching strategies
- Linux command line, shell scripting
- Basic understanding of Docker and containerised test environments

- Rigorous engineering mindset with a focus on code quality and maintainability
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Good written and verbal communication in English (B2+)
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of the automation framework
- Collaborative approach with functional testers and DevOps engineers
- Proactive in identifying improvement opportunities in the test automation strategy
Education & Experience
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in test automation, with at least 3 years of hands-on Robot Framework usage.
- Proven experience building and scaling test automation frameworks from scratch or from a baseline
- Experience integrating Robot Framework into CI/CD pipelines
- Background in testing industrial, MES, PLM or enterprise applications is a strong asset
- Experience with API and UI automation in complex application contexts
- ISTQB Test Automation Engineer certification is a plus
