Job Description
- Install single-phase and three-phase digital/smart electricity meters at residential, commercial, and industrial locations.
- Replace old analog/electromechanical meters with new digital smart meters as per company and client standards.
- Perform pre-installation site inspections to ensure safe and proper meter installation.
- Verify consumer details, meter serial numbers, and installation location before commencing work.
- Ensure proper wiring, sealing, and termination of meters according to electrical safety standards.
- Test installed meters for accuracy, connectivity, voltage, current, and overall functionality.
- Configure and commission smart meters using handheld devices or mobile applications where required.
- Identify and report faulty wiring, meter defects, or unsafe electrical conditions to the supervisor.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during field operations.
- Maintain daily installation targets while ensuring quality workmanship.
- Record installation details, GPS location, photographs, and consumer acknowledgements using mobile applications or field reporting systems.
- Educate consumers on basic smart meter usage, display readings, and safety precautions.
- Resolve minor installation issues and coordinate with technical support for complex problems.
- Maintain accurate installation records and submit daily progress reports.
- Ensure proper handling and transportation of meters and installation materials to avoid damage.
- Coordinate with field supervisors, engineers, and utility representatives for smooth project execution.
- Comply with client guidelines, company policies, and statutory electrical regulations.
- Attend toolbox talks, safety meetings, and technical training programs as required.
