Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Solar / Power Projects)Location: Bhopal / Remote (as applicable)Experience: 2–6 Years (flexible based on capability)Role OverviewWe are looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in AutoCAD (or similar tools) for preparing detailed engineering drawings and supporting design activities for solar power plants and electrical infrastructure projects. The role involves layout design, preparation of BOQ/BOM, and coordination with engineering and execution teams.
- Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent tools, including:
- General Arrangement (GA) layouts
- Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
- Cable routing layouts
- Earthing and lightning protection layouts
- Inverter, ACDB/DCDB, and switchyard layouts
- Develop plant layouts for utility-scale and rooftop solar projects, ensuring optimal space utilization and compliance with standards
- Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Bill of Materials (BOM) for:
- Solar PV systems
- Electrical infrastructure (LT/HT panels, cabling, earthing, etc.)
- Perform basic electrical calculations, including:
- Cable sizing
- Voltage drop analysis
- Protection coordination (basic level)
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to ensure design integration
- Support tendering and proposal preparation with technical inputs and quantity estimation
- Review and update drawings based on site feedback and design revisions
- Required Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Any additional tools (e.g., SketchUp, PVsyst, ETAP) is an advantage
- Strong understanding of:
- Solar PV systems (rooftop and utility-scale)
- Electrical design principles and standards (IS/IEC)
- Experience in layout design and drafting for electrical or solar projects
- Ability to prepare BOQ/BOM independently
- Good understanding of site execution constraints and practical design considerations
- Preferred ExperienceExperience in solar EPC or consultancy projects
- Exposure to BESS, substations, or transmission systems (added advantage)
- Familiarity with tender drawings and project documentation
- Key AttributesDetail-oriented with strong drafting accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Good coordination and communication skills
