Assistant Restaurant Manager

Job Description

The Chef Restaurant is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support our leadership team in overseeing daily operations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between front-of-house service and administrative management, ensuring that our high standards for hospitality and operational efficiency are consistently met. You will be responsible for supervising the service team, managing guest relations, and assisting with backend functions like inventory and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Oversight: Support the Restaurant Manager in managing daily business performance, sales growth, and overall restaurant operations.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of Restaurant Captains, waiters, and stewards, ensuring prompt and professional service for all guests.
• Guest Relations: Proactively handle guest feedback, requests, and complaints to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
• Staff Development: Assist in training and mentoring new team members on service standards, restaurant procedures, and food safety protocols.
• Administrative Management: Manage workforce scheduling, assist in preparing duty rosters, and monitor staff performance against targets.
• Inventory & Cost Control: Assist in managing inventory, monitoring food safety and hygiene compliance, and reporting on operational costs.
• Billing & Technical Proficiency: Oversee billing operations using Petpooja and maintain proficiency in computer applications, specifically MS Excel.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely food service and maintain high quality across Indian, Chinese, Tandoori, and Continental cuisines.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of total experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role such as Restaurant Captain or Senior Steward.
• Education: Degree or diploma in Hotel Management is a must-have.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and experience with restaurant POS systems (e.g., Petpooja, MICROS, or IDS).
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to manage both staff and guest relations effectively.
• Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule that includes shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
