Qualification - ITI / Diploma- mechanical

A Lathe Machine/VTL/CNC Lathe operator is responsible for machining metal components as per drawings with accuracy and safety.


  • Set up the job by selecting tools, inserts, and proper clamping
  • Set machine parameters like speed, feed, and depth of cut
  • Perform machining operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and grooving
  • Operate:
  • Conventional Lathe – manual machining
  • VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe) – large and heavy components
  • CNC Lathe – program-based high-precision machining
  • Check dimensions using instruments like vernier caliper and micrometer
  • Monitor tool wear and machine performance during operation
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and do basic lubrication
  • Follow safety rules and use PPE at all times
