Manager - SQE, TRIMS - Paint Specialist

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Commodity: Trims (Painted Exterior / Interior Trims) Commodity parts
• Responsible for supplier parts quality of Painted parts i.e. Bumpers, Grill, Claddings, Spoiler, Handles, Interior/Exterior Decorative Parts
• Responsible for evaluation and control of supplier painting processes and paint process & product validation.
• Painted plastic parts surface defect analysis and colour measurement systems.
• Participation, Co-ordination & resolution of concern reported from assembly line, Field, User plant for painted Trims Interior & Exterior critical part through root cause analysis, action planning, implementation effectiveness & system closure SCAP, 8D monitoring.
• Chronic concern resolution through systemic problem solving methodology and horizontal deployment.
• Ensure that the lessons learned from product families are implemented for new product development as input for prevention of repeated known issues
• Involvement in new product development, identifying and driving  improvements through early involvement in NPD Process and completion of PPAP
Involement in Vehicle Level colour Harmony activity along with painted plastic parts
• Re-PPAP & PSW for identified critical carryover parts in new Project
• Plan and Conduct Supplier process & Product audits, Concern based/Special Process audits as per requirement
• Supplier Performance monitoring, evaluation & drive performance improvement through systemic approach.
• Monitor & improve non-performing suppliers and organize periodic Quality reviews as per escalation matrix
• Supplier dealings, communications & regular interactions for continual improvements & process upgradations.
• Sustenance & drive continual improvements through Product & Process audits at suppliers & NC closures.
• Enhance technical capabilities of vendor through systems and knowledge upgradations

Critical Experience

Competencies 1. Thorough Knowledge of Painted Exterior/Interior Trim parts i.e. Bumpers, Grill, Claddings, Spoiler, Handles, Interior/Exterior Decorative Parts
2. In depth knowledge of painting Processes (Robotic/Manual Spray painting, Pre-treatments, paint Curing process etc) and Paint validation system including environmental and durability, Adhesion, Shade, Gloss and Appearance approvals, surface defect analysis etc.
3. Hands on experience with Shade harmony, color measurement systems (spectrophotometer, LAB values) and surface defect analysis (orange peel, sink marks, flow lines, dust inclusion, shade variation etc).
Hands on experience for Injection Moulding, Plastic Joining Processes - Welding, Gluing. and plastic part module assemblies (Bumpers, Grills, Spoilers)
4. Quality concerns resolutions through systemic approach/problem solving tools.
5. Thorough knowledge on APQP/PPAP, DCP, SPC, SCAP, 8D, GD&T, FTG, etc.
6. Basic & advance problem solving tools & techniques.
7. Good communication skills for supplier dealings & regular interactions.
