Taxi Driver Job Responsibilities
A taxi driver's primary role is to transport passengers safely and efficiently to their destinations while providing good customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesPick up and drop off passengers at requested locations.
Drive safely and comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
Use GPS and local route knowledge to choose efficient routes.
Assist passengers with luggage or personal belongings when needed.
Collect fares and process cash, card, or digital payments.Maintain accurate trip and fare records if required by the employer.
Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and in good working condition.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.Communicate professionally and courteously with passengers.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or customer concerns.
Follow company policies and local transportation regulations.Manage work schedules to maximize service availability and earnings.
Skills and QualificationsValid driver's license and any required taxi permits/licenses.
Clean driving record.Good knowledge of local roads, landmarks, and traffic patterns.Strong customer service and communication skills.Ability to use GPS, ride-hailing apps, and payment systems.Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.Time-management and problem-solving skills.
