Job Description
Job Title: Store Accountant
Location: Purasaiwalkam, Chennai
Industry: Retail (Readymade Garments)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: Store Manager / Owner / Accounts Head
Job Purpose:
To manage day-to-day accounting functions of the garment store including sales recording, purchases, stock entries, cash & bank reconciliation, vendor payments, GST filings, and internal reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
🧾 Daily Accounting Operations
- Record daily sales transactions (cash, card, UPI, credit) in accounting software (Tally or equivalent).
- Monitor and maintain Petty Cash with proper vouchers and approval.
- Check bills, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Maintain day book, cash book, and bank book on a daily basis.
🧺 Stock & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with the stock manager or purchase team to record inward and outward stock entries.
- Reconcile physical stock with accounting records periodically.
- Assist in monthly/quarterly stock audits.
📦 Vendor & Purchase Management
- Maintain records of supplier invoices, payments, and outstanding dues.
- Process vendor payments with proper verification and documentation.
- Follow up with vendors for bills, payment clarification, or credit notes.
💵 Banking & Reconciliation
- Handle cash and bank transactions, including deposits and withdrawals.
- Perform bank reconciliation every week/month and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain records of loan EMIs, overdrafts, or any credit facilities (if applicable).
📊 GST & Tax Compliance
- Prepare and maintain GST input/output registers.
- Assist in filing monthly GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and TDS returns.
- Ensure invoices are GST compliant and reconcile GSTR with books.
📈 Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and other MIS reports.
- Maintain proper filing of bills, invoices, bank statements, and ledgers for audit purposes.
- Submit weekly and monthly financial summaries to management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Female candidate: Age group: 25-40 years
- Residence: 5 km radius of PH road.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com)
- 2–3 years of experience in retail accounting, preferably in textile or garment stores.
- Hands-on experience with Tally ERP
- Good knowledge of GST, TDS, and other statutory compliances.
Key Skills Required:
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
- Strong understanding of inventory flow and retail billing practices.
- Ability to handle cash, card & UPI reconciliations.
- Familiarity with Tamil and English (spoken and written).
Working Hours:
- 9:30 AM – 6.30 PM ( Mon to Saturday)
- Weekly Off: One day - Sunday
Salary Range:
₹18,000 – ₹23,000 per month (depending on experience and skillset)

- Ability to coordinate with internal team (sales, stock, purchase).
- Should be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality of store finances.
- Ready to work extra hours during festive seasons or sales periods.
