Associate Basis Engineer

This role is based in Chennai, India, and is part of the global cross‑cultural SAP Basis team supporting BorgWarner’s SAP landscape. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Global SAP Basis, the role will provide comprehensive SAP Basis support across multiple SAP products and platforms. This position offers significant exposure to global teams, diverse SAP environments, and opportunities to enhance SAP technical expertise..

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage and resolve SAP Basis incidents and service requests within defined SLAs
• Perform daily monitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance across SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, Solution Manager, GRC, Fiori, etc.)
• Support SAP installations, system migrations, upgrades, EHP updates, and kernel upgrades
•  Administer and manage transport requests in alignment with SAP Change Management processes
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues using appropriate tools
• Support database and OS-level backup, restore, and recovery activities
• Work closely with functional and technical teams to diagnose and resolve Basis-related issues
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge repositories
• Ensure compliance, security, and audit readiness across SAP landscapes
• Automate routine Basis tasks to improve operational efficiency

Lead and deliver small-scale SAP technical initiatives or projects

Must Required:

6–8 years of hands‑on SAP Basis experience in a global production support environment

• Strong understanding of SAP architecture, including NetWeaver, SAP HANA and BTP
• Experience with system copies, client administration, printer management, RFC configurations, and transport management
• Ability to independently manage Level 2 and Level 3 SAP Basis tickets
• Basic knowledge of the ITIL framework
• Ability to support after-hours maintenance and participate in on-call rotations
• Working knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Windows) and databases (HANA, MaxDB, Sybase ASE)
• Exposure to Azure cloud technologies and SAP Cloud Connector (good to have)
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• Structured, detail-oriented, self-driven work approach
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
• SAP certifications in HANA, S/4HANA, or NetWeaver administration are an advantage
• Work-from-office availability for at least three days per week
