Job Description
- 1. Equipment Installation & SetupAssisting Technicians: Helping dewatering technicians or supervisors lay out and assemble pipes, hoses, and fittings.
- Positioning Pumps: Safely moving and positioning submersible pumps, wellpoint systems, or centrifugal pumps in designated areas.
- Trenching & Sump Creation: Digging shallow trenches, sumps, or drainage channels to direct water toward the pumping equipment.
- 2. Operation & Monitoring SupportRoutine Checks: Monitoring pump operations, listening for unusual noises, and checking for leaks in the hoses or pipe joints.
- Fueling & Priming: Refueling diesel pumps safely and assisting in priming pumps to maintain continuous water flow.
- Suction Maintenance: Ensuring that suction screens, strainers, and filters remain clear of mud, debris, trash, and silt to prevent clogs and equipment damage.
- 3. Site Safety & HousekeepingTripping Hazard Mitigation: Properly routing hoses and cables away from heavy machinery paths and foot traffic, or using hose ramps where necessary.
- Discharge Control: Monitoring the water discharge point to ensure it is not causing soil erosion, flooding adjacent properties, or violating environmental regulations.
- Cleanliness: Cleaning and organizing tools, fittings, and safety gear at the end of every shift.
- 4. Handling & MaintenanceLoading/Unloading: Manually lifting, loading, and unloading dewatering equipment, pipes, and hoses from transport vehicles.
- Storage: Properly rolling up hoses and stacking pipes after use to prevent damage from site vehicles.
- Basic Maintenance: Assisting with basic cleaning of pumps and tools after a dewatering operation is completed.
