Job description:

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building scalable ML solutions that drive impact across product development, operations, finance, and services. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and lead initiatives that bring AI from concept to production. You’ll report to the AI R&D Leader and work closely with solution architects, process automation engineers, external consultants, and business teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and maintaining end-to-end ML pipelines — from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Fine-tuning LLMs and other models for ESAB-specific use cases.
• Ensuring infrastructure scalability and security in close collaboration with IT and Digital Solutions.
• Leading workshops with business stakeholders to identify high-value ML opportunities.
• Translating business needs into structured ML problem statements with clear ROI.
• Working with solution architects to embed ML models into business applications.
• Acting as an internal ambassador for ML, promoting best practices and raising awareness.

What you'll need to succeed:

We’re looking for a Machine Learning Lead with at least 7+ years of relevant work experience, who combines solid technical skills with a strong understanding of how AI and machine learning can create business value. You have a proactive, self-driven mindset — you take initiative, work independently, and thrive in dynamic environments.

Ideally you have:
• M.Sc. Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience working with machine learning frameworks and tools and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with how AI systems are designed, trained, and refined — including working with various types of input data.
• Experience building APIs for ML model integration into business applications.
• Comfortable working with data throughout its lifecycle — from collection and preparation to analysis and modeling.
• Experience integrating ML solutions into business applications or workflows.
• Ability to lead conversations with stakeholders and translate business needs into AI-driven solutions.
• Strong communication skills — you can explain technical concepts clearly and tell compelling stories with data.
