Job Summary

The Operations Manager – Mechanized Cleaning Services is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing mechanized cleaning operations across metro stations and associated facilities. The role involves ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, manpower management, machinery upkeep, client coordination, and compliance with operational SOPs and contractual requirements.


The Operations Manager shall ensure uninterrupted deployment of mechanized cleaning services including scrubber driers, ride-on machines, jetting machines, vacuum cleaners, escalator cleaners, and other housekeeping equipment while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities


Operations Management

  • Manage end-to-end mechanized cleaning operations across assigned metro stations and facilities.
  • Ensure continuous cleanliness and upkeep of station premises including concourse, platforms, FOBs, staircases, escalators, lifts, toilets, parking areas, and back-office areas.
  • Monitor daily deployment of manpower, machinery, consumables, and supervisors.
  • Ensure adherence to cleaning schedules, SOPs, and client-defined KPIs.
  • Conduct routine inspections and quality audits to maintain service standards.

Mechanized Cleaning Management

  • Supervise operations of mechanized cleaning equipment including:
  • Ride-on scrubber driers
  • Walk-behind scrubber machines
  • High-pressure jetting machines
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Escalator cleaning machines
  • Steam cleaning equipment
  • Carpet and upholstery cleaning machines
  • Ensure proper maintenance, servicing, and safe operation of machinery.
  • Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor machine utilization, downtime, and operational efficiency.

Manpower Management

  • Lead and supervise housekeeping supervisors, technicians, operators, and housekeeping staff.
  • Prepare duty rosters, shift schedules, reliever deployment, and leave management.
  • Ensure discipline, attendance, grooming, and productivity of deployed staff.
  • Conduct operational briefings and training programs on:

Mechanized cleaning operations

  • Safety procedures
  • Chemical handling
  • Customer service
  • Emergency response protocols

Client Coordination

  • Coordinate with metro authorities, station controllers, and client representatives on operational matters.
  • Attend operational review meetings and inspections.
  • Ensure timely closure of complaints, observations, and audit findings.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational MIS reports.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, labor laws, and contractual obligations.
  • Enforce usage of PPE and safe work practices during cleaning operations.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintain records related to incidents, accidents, safety inspections, and statutory compliance.

Inventory & Asset Control

  • Monitor stock levels of chemicals, consumables, spare parts, and cleaning materials.
  • Ensure proper asset tracking and accountability of machines and tools.
  • Prevent misuse, pilferage, and operational wastage.
  • Coordinate procurement and replacement requirements with stores/purchase teams.

Emergency & Escalation Handling

  • Respond promptly to operational emergencies, spillages, equipment failures, and customer complaints.
  • Coordinate with station teams during VIP movements, special events, and emergency situations.
  • Ensure uninterrupted services during peak operational hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Facility Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Certifications in Facility Management or Industrial Safety will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in mechanized housekeeping/facility management operations.
  • Minimum 5–6 years in supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in metro rail, airport, railway station, mall, hospital, or large public infrastructure projects preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong operational and team management capabilities.
  • Good technical knowledge of mechanized cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Strong client handling and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multi-location and shift-based operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, reporting, and MIS preparation.
  • Problem-solving and crisis management skills.
