Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To supervise and coordinate all Press Shop operations during the assigned shift, ensuring production targets, quality standards, machine utilization, safety compliance, and manpower management are achieved efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
- Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.
- Ensure achievement of shift-wise production targets.
- Monitor machine utilization and minimize machine idle time.
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Stores departments for smooth production.
- Ensure proper material availability before starting production.
2. SHOP FLOOR SUPERVISION
- Supervise approximately 60 shop floor employees across the assigned shift.
- Allocate manpower based on production priorities.
- Monitor operator performance and maintain discipline on the shop floor.
- Ensure proper shift handover between supervisors.
- Resolve day-to-day production issues promptly.
3. MACHINE MONITORING
- Supervise the operation of approximately 52 press machines.
- Ensure machines are operated safely and efficiently.
- Identify machine abnormalities and coordinate with the Maintenance Department for immediate corrective action.
- Reduce machine downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
5. SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety rules and company policies.
- Conduct shift-wise safety inspections.
- Ensure all employees use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report and investigate accidents, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices (5S).
6. MANPOWER MANAGEMENT
- Monitor employee attendance and shift deployment.
- Handle absenteeism and arrange suitable replacements when required.
- Motivate employees to improve productivity and maintain discipline.
- Identify training needs and coach operators on standard operating procedures.
7. DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
- Prepare and maintain:
- Shift Production Report
- Machine Breakdown Report
- Rejection & Rework Report
- Manpower Attendance Report
- Daily Shift Handover Report
- Report production status and issues to the Production Manager.
8. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Participate in Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Suggest methods to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Support implementation of new processes and productivity enhancement projects.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
- ITI with extensive Press Shop supervisory experience may also be considered.
EXPERIENCE
- 5–8 years of experience in a Press Shop or Sheet Metal Manufacturing.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Shift Supervisor or Team Leader.
- Experience in stainless-steel kitchenware, hot box, utensils, or sheet metal manufacturing is preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic Press Machines.
- Understanding of Sheet Metal Forming and Press Operations.
- Production Planning and Shift Management.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Quality Control Tools.
- Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE concepts.
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, ERP preferred).

- Three-shift manufacturing operation.

- Must be available for overtime or emergency production requirements when necessary.
