Senior Full Stack Developer
Ford MotorJob Description
Senior Full Stack Developer
Why this role?
The Ford Global Technology & Business Center is a hub of innovation where you will work on global-scale problems. This is a unique opportunity to move beyond a single department and see the "Big Picture" of how Ford operates. This role offers a unique "learning-by-doing" opportunity, where you will become an expert in both automotive business processes and the world-leading 3DEXPERIENCE platform, setting a strong foundation for your career in product management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
· The "Connector": You understand that a vehicle isn't just a piece of engineering — it's a product that must be marketed, sold, and regulated.
· Data-Curious: You are interested in how data flows through a large organization and how to make that flow more efficient.
· Effective Communicator: You can speak "Engineering" to the PD teams and "Business" to the Marketing or Regulatory teams.
· Proactive Learner: You are excited about the challenge of mastering a world-class PLM platform like 3DX.
1. Cross-Functional Process Discovery
· Learn & Map: Shadow and interview stakeholders in non-engineering functions (e.g., Regulatory, Marketing) to understand how they currently access and use engineering data.
· Integration Vision: Develop a plan for business capabilities that allow these interfacing functions to pull real-time data from the 3DX platform, replacing manual hand-offs.
· OOTB Learning: Actively learn 3DEXPERIENCE "Out-of-the-Box" (OOTB) capabilities to identify how the platform can automate data sharing for compliance and marketing needs.
2. Stakeholder Collaboration & Validation
· Bridging the Gap: Collaborate closely with Product Development (PD) engineers (the data creators) and downstream customers (the data consumers) to validate assumptions and improve data usability.
· Business Case Development: Create business cases for new features, focusing on how improved data integration reduces regulatory risk or speeds up marketing "time-to-market."
3. Roadmap & Data Priority Management
· Create and maintain a product roadmap that prioritizes the data needs of interfacing business units.
· Manage timelines to ensure that tools are ready to support critical vehicle program milestones and regulatory deadlines.
4. Agile Product Ownership
· Translate the needs of Marketing and Regulatory teams into actionable user stories for the development team.
· Review and approve user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, ensuring that the data output from 3DX is accurate and fit-for-purpose for non-engineering users.
5. Success Metrics & Data Integrity
· Identify key metrics (KPIs) to measure the success of data integration, such as data accuracy, reduction in manual reports, and user adoption across departments.
· Monitor performance to ensure the platform remains a reliable source for compliance and commercial teams.
6. Strategic Leadership & Technical Alignment
· Involve Software Engineers and global stakeholders early in the strategy process to ensure technical feasibility of data pipelines.
· Lead the product direction by staying informed on industry trends regarding enterprise-wide data consumption.
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data Management, or a related field.
· 2–3 years of experience at Ford, with exposure to how different departments (Regulatory, Marketing, Supply Chain, etc.) interact with Engineering.
· A growth mindset and a strong commitment to learning the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
· Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the Product-Driven Organization (PDO) model.
