Production manager - BESS

Role Purpose

Lead and manage end-to-end production of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are consistently achieved. Drive operational excellence across module/pack assembly, container integration, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Develop and execute production plans aligned with demand forecasts and project timelines
• Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials
• Monitor daily/weekly/monthly production KPIs (output, efficiency, downtime)

2. Manufacturing Operations (BESS)

• Oversee assembly processes including:
  • Battery module/pack assembly
  • Rack integration
  • Containerized BESS assembly
  • Electrical integration (PCS, BMS, HVAC, fire systems)
• Ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions

3. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure products meet internal and customer quality standards
• Implement in-process quality checks and final inspection protocols
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with standards like IEC, UL, ISO

4. Safety & EHS

• Enforce strict safety protocols, especially for lithium-ion battery handling
• Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines and statutory norms
• Conduct regular safety audits and trainings

5. Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop production teams (engineers, supervisors, operators)
• Drive performance management and skill development
• Manage shift planning and workforce allocation

6. Continuous Improvement

• Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives
• Improve productivity, reduce cycle time, and minimize wastage
• Drive automation and digitalization initiatives (MES, IoT)

7. Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with:
  • Supply Chain (material availability)
  • Quality (inspection & audits)
  • Engineering (process improvements, NPI)
  • Projects (customer delivery timelines)
