Role Title | Production Engineer ( DC) |
Role Purpose | To plan, execute, and control day-to-day production activities to achieve targeted output, quality, cost, safety, and delivery objectives by effectively utilizing manpower, machines, and materials, while driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and statutory regulations. |
Working with (Reporting Relationship) | The Production Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Head and works closely with Quality, Training, Maintenance, Planning, Stores, Safety, and Lean teams to ensure smooth and efficient production operations |

What the role entails (Key Responsibilities) (Indicative –The role is bigger) | Production Leadership & Systems
· Lead shop floor production teams for Optical Connectivity / Data Centre products, ensuring achievement of production targets with defined quality, cost, safety, and delivery standards. · Prepare and manage Production Department plans, manpower allocation, and operational budgets. · Drive adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and process parameters; oversee creation, review, and revision of production SOPs as required. · Ensure effective execution of production processes for incoming materials, in-process builds, and finished goods; address deviations and bottlenecks promptly.
Customer & Delivery Focus · Ensure on-time production completion and dispatch readiness by proactively resolving production and capacity constraints. · Coordinate with Planning, Quality and SCM teams to address customer-related issues impacting delivery schedules. · Support customer visits, audits, and escalations by providing production inputs and action plans. · Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and statutory obligations impacting production. · Technical Expertise & Innovation · Maintain strong technical knowledge of Optical Connectivity / Data Centre products, manufacturing processes, equipment, and performance parameters to meet production and quality objectives. · Identify opportunities for productivity improvement, cycle time reduction, and cost optimization. · Actively participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) and process industrialization activities from a production perspective. · Support evaluation of new machines, tools, fixtures, and vendors in coordination with Process Team and SCM teams. · Drive a culture of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement aligned with organizational values.
People Leadership · Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and mentor team members to build a high-performing Team. · Identify skill gaps and training needs; plan and execute technical and behavioural training programs. · Support recruitment and onboarding for production roles as per business requirements. · Lead short-term and long-term productivity, efficiency, and cost-reduction projects.
Process Excellence · Ensure strict adherence to engineering change management for any process, tooling, or material changes. · Monitor production KPIs such as efficiency, yield, downtime, scrap, and rework; drive corrective actions. · Champion a zero-loss mindset by minimizing defects, rework, and operational inefficiencies. · Promote use of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and other operational excellence tools to achieve sustainable performance.

What we are looking for in you (Skills, Knowledge, Special Attributes, Mobility) | Skills & Knowledge · 8-10 Years Strong knowledge of production processes, manufacturing systems, and shop floor operations, preferably in Optical Connectivity / Data Centre products. · 8–10 years of Hands-on experience in production planning, manpower management, machine utilization, and process control.. · Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies. · Good understanding of quality systems, safety standards, and statutory compliance applicable to manufacturing. · Ability to analyse production data, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions. · Proficiency in MS Excel, MIS reporting, and exposure to ERP/SAP systems. Special Attributes · Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams. · Result-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability for production performance. · Problem-solving attitude with the ability to handle shop floor challenges and operational pressures. · Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills. · Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment Mobility · Willingness to work in shifts and support extended working hours as per production requirements. · Open to travel within plants / customer / vendor locations as required by business needs.
