Job Description
A Solar Technician plays a critical role in the deployment of renewable energy, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
The Solar Technician is responsible for the physical installation of solar panels and support structures, electrical wiring of DC and AC components, and ongoing maintenance of residential or commercial rooftop systems. This role requires technical precision, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
System Installation: Assemble and install racking systems, solar modules, and mounting hardware according to site blueprints and engineering designs.
Electrical Integration: Connect solar panels in series or parallel, install inverters, charge controllers, and batteries, and wire the system to the main distribution board.
Site Assessment: Assist in pre-installation site surveys to verify measurements, roof integrity, and shading factors.
Testing & Commissioning: Use multimeters and solar analyzers to test string voltages, insulation resistance, and ensure the system meets performance specifications before handover.
Maintenance & O&M: Perform routine cleaning of panels, inspect electrical connections for wear, and troubleshoot system underperformance or component failures.
* **Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to height safety standards (harnesses, lifelines) and electrical safety regulations to prevent workplace hazards.
### **Technical Skills & Qualifications**
* **Education:** ITI Certification or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy.
* **Knowledge:** Familiarity with **TOPCon** or Mono-PERC modules, on-grid/hybrid inverters, and Single Line Diagrams (SLD).
* **Tools:** Proficiency with power tools (drills, grinders) and electrical testing equipment.
* **Experience:** Prior experience in rooftop solar installations or general electrical contracting is preferred.
### **Physical Requirements**
* Ability to work at heights and on slanted rooftops for extended periods.
* Capability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to **25kg** (approx. 55 lbs).
* Comfort working in outdoor weather conditions.
### **Typical Work Environment**
* **Hours:** Standard 40-hour week, though project deadlines or weather delays may require overtime or weekend work.
* **Travel:** Regular travel to various project sites is usually required.
