Job Role Overview

A Bridal Lehenga Tailor specializes in stitching and finishing high-end bridal lehengas according to custom measurements and designer specifications. This role requires precision, a deep understanding of garment construction, and expertise in handling luxury fabrics and intricate embroidery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Garment Construction

Stitch customized bridal lehengas based on patterns, sketches, or designer instructions.

Handle all stages of garment construction: from fabric cutting, stitching, lining, to final finishing.

Work with various fabrics including silk, velvet, net, brocade, and organza.

2. Measurement and Fitting

Take accurate body measurements for brides or interpret designer-provided measurements.

Conduct trial fittings and make necessary alterations for the perfect fit.

Maintain records of measurements for each client.

3. Fabric and Embellishment Handling

Work delicately with expensive and embellished fabrics, ensuring no damage to embroidery or detailing.

Handle hand embroidery, patchwork, and other surface ornamentation carefully during stitching.

4. Collaboration with Designers and Staff

Coordinate with fashion designers to understand garment aesthetics and construction techniques.

Collaborate with embroidery artisans, handwork staff, and other tailors for seamless garment creation.

5. Quality Control

Inspect stitched garments for sewing defects, alignment, and finishing.

Ensure garments meet high standards of bridal couture quality.

6. Alterations and Repairs

Make post-delivery alterations as per client requests or fitting feedback.

Provide repair services for damaged lehengas or bridal wear when required.

7. Time Management

Manage production timelines to ensure timely delivery, especially during wedding seasons.

Prioritize urgent orders without compromising quality.

8. Maintenance and Housekeeping

Maintain sewing machines and tools in good working condition.

Keep the tailoring area clean and organized.

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a bridal tailor or in stitching ethnic/wedding garments.

Knowledge of traditional Indian garment construction, especially lehengas.

Skilled in using industrial and hand sewing machines.

Attention to detail, patience, and craftsmanship.

Ability to read and interpret design sketches and patterns.

Knowledge of different types of fabrics and embroidery techniques.

Good communication and teamwork skills.
