Personal Trainer

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assessment & Programming: Conducting initial health screenings (posture, flexibility, body composition) and designing personalized, safe, and effective workout plans.
• Instruction & Coaching: Guiding clients through one-on-one or group sessions, demonstrating proper form, and educating them on exercise physiology to prevent injury.
• Motivation & Retention: Tracking client progress, providing feedback, and maintaining a positive, encouraging environment to ensure long-term goal achievement.
• Safety & Maintenance: Monitoring gym floor activity to ensure safe equipment use, following cleaning protocols, and, if needed, performing CPR/AED or basic first aid.
• Sales & Service: Promoting personal training packages to members, managing schedules, and, in some cases, cleaning equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certification: Current certification from accredited organizations (e.g., NASM, ACE, ISSA, NSCA) is typically required.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (college degree in exercise science preferred).
• Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, motivation, and client service skills.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to demonstrate exercises and stand for long periods.
