Job Description

Job Summary:The Senior Steward in the restaurant service team is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day dining operations by assisting with guest service, supervising junior stewards/waiters, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in service areas, and ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction. This role acts as a bridge between the service staff and supervisors.

  • Key Responsibilities / Duties:1. Guest Service:Welcome and seat guests when required.
  • Assist waitstaff in serving food and beverages.
  • Respond promptly to guest needs and requests.
  • Ensure high standards of guest service and satisfaction.
  • 2. Supervision & Coordination:Support the Restaurant Supervisor in managing service staff during shifts.
  • Assign tables and tasks to junior stewards or waiters.
  • Monitor staff grooming, punctuality, and behavior.
  • Train new service team members on SOPs and customer service.
  • 3. Table Setup & Dining Area Maintenance:Ensure tables are properly set up before service (cutlery, napkins, glassware).
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in dining and service areas.
  • Oversee resetting of tables between seatings.
  • 4. Order Support:Assist in taking orders when needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of orders delivered to guests.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar for timely delivery of food and drinks.
  • 5. Stock & Inventory:Ensure sufficient availability of service items (cutlery, crockery, linen, etc.).
  • Maintain and report inventory of service materials to supervisors.
  • Monitor usage of consumables like napkins, condiments, etc.
  • 6. Compliance & Hygiene:Enforce hygiene and sanitation standards as per restaurant policies.
  • Ensure food safety practices are followed during service.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including fire and emergency procedures.
  • 7. Reporting & Communication:Report guest feedback and complaints to supervisors.
  • Maintain shift reports and handover logs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth service flow
