ISS STOXX is Hiring! We seek an Index Data Research Associate within Index Operations Department for Gurugram location.

Overview:

The Index Operations is currently organized in 4 units defined as Index Surveillance and Monitoring, Index Review, Corporate Actions and Index Data Research across 6 locations (Hong Kong, Delhi, Prague, Frankfurt, Zug and New-York) and is responsible for any day-to-day activities related to the maintenance of indices under STOXX mandates. Index Operations activities cover indices such as EURO STOXX 50, STOXX Europe 50, STOXX Europe 600, as well as DAX indices, and Customized Indices. The Index Operations teams are also involved in any Strategic Projects where expertise on Index implementation, maintenance, regulations and customer interface are required.

Responsibilities

For our office in Gurugram (Haryana), we are currently looking for an Index Data Research Associate (female/male) in the Index Data Research unit, with a strong background on equity data collection & analytical skills. The overall successful candidate will be part of the dynamic Index Data Research team that is located in Gurugram (Haryana) and actively collaborate with the remaining 5 different locations around the world, to ensure best practice and compliance with Index Operations Department activities.

As Index Data Research Associate, you will focus on sourcing, validating, and maintaining high-quality financial data that underpins index calculation and methodology. This role ensures data integrity across equity asset class and supports the timely and accurate configuration, calculation and dissemination of all indices, under ISS STOXX responsibility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: overseeing ownership research; assessing withholding tax; monitoring equity trading suspension and providing accurate information to clients via publications and notifications. The role encompass as well large number of routine and non-routine activities across Index Operations.

In this role, as a subject matter expert, you will use your industry expertise to participate in new, interesting and challenging projects such as new rules definition based on market requirements or anticipation of markets impacts, and analyze market expectations with the definition of new data points. The role requires close coordination with the IT department in order to provide automation processes solution, enhance or suggest new tools, specify requirements for technical development and test new applications/tools from end to end.

You will represent a key growth area for the company and are expected to be a significant contributor and team player.

What you bring to ISS STOXX

  • Hold a Master Degree in finance, economics or equivalent

  • At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in financial environment (preferable Index Business, Portfolio Business, Asset Managers, Primary and Secondary research) and a good understandings of Financial Markets environment, its working constraints and philosophy,

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and know-how in financial information and financial markets, including understandings of corporate actions impacts on an Index, data points like Shares and FF research, Dividend research, Foreign Ownership Limit research, Withholding Tax research and Suspension research

  • Experience and track record in Corporate Actions management, Index Operations, Securities and listed companies Operations (Middle and back office), data analysis / cleansing, data processing rules and techniques is a plus

  • Be able to work under pressure and to handle multiple tasks time-efficient and autonomously in parallels and work on tight deadlines

  • Be able to work and learn autonomously without minimum supervision and training (self-starter/self-learner) 

  • Finally, you need to be a team player with good communication skills, highly motivated, flexible and solution-oriented with the following soft skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills : Fluency in English both oral and written (mandatory), a second European or Asian language would be a plus

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, Python and VBA programming skills would be a plus, ideally combined with database knowledge and SQL

  • Good knowledge of reference and market data applications such as Refinitiv, Bloomberg, FactSet, SIX, ICE and EDI

  • Ability to work independently with tight deadlines, quickly identify and report issues and problems

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data interpretation

  • Be a team-player, orientated attitude and ability to act as a proactive, independent team player with hands-on mentality

  • Excellent communication skills
