GCP DevOps Engineer
About the Role
Synechron is looking for an experienced Google Cloud DevOps Administrator to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with a core focus on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). This role is responsible for designing, managing, securing, and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure to support high‑availability, scalable, and secure enterprise applications as part of Synechron’s digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage GCP infrastructure, with strong emphasis on GKE cluster setup, scaling, and security
- Configure, manage, and optimize networking and firewall rules to ensure secure access and compliance with organizational standards
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployments using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads
- Monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance and availability improvements
- Collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to align infrastructure with business requirements
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and security audits
- Maintain detailed documentation for architectures, configurations, and operational processes
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new GCP features and best practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud administration or infrastructure management
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience managing Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) in enterprise environments
- Proven experience in managing production-grade cloud environments with high availability and security requirements
- Experience working in Agile / DevOps delivery models
Technical Skills
Must Have
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Docker & containerization
- Scripting: Bash and/or Python
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Cloud Build, Buildkite
- Cloud IAM, VPC, Firewall rules
Good to Have
- Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager
- Monitoring & Logging: Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana
- Kubernetes configuration: YAML, Helm charts
- Cloud-native services: Cloud Run, Cloud Functions
- Experience with Anthos or hybrid cloud setups
Security & Compliance
- Strong understanding of IAM, network security, encryption, and vulnerability management
- Experience supporting security audits, compliance checks, and regulated environments
- Exposure to finance, fintech, or other regulated industries is an advantage but not mandatory
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- GCP Certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or Associate Cloud Engineer are preferred
