Job Description

Principal V&V Designer (Interlocking)

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Principal V&V Designer (Interlocking) in Bangalore we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your verification and validation expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of our interlocking systems for Mainline Signalling projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, project management, site teams), lead project kick-off meetings, and define and execute test strategies, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of defining, assembling, validating, performing, and troubleshooting Functional and Interface Validation Platforms (FIVP), but also contribute to conducting CFAT, SAT, and resolving site-level issues.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Leading project kick-off meetings to understand requirements and identify the verification and validation scope

  • Supporting the V&V Manager in defining the Project V&V Strategy and Project V&V Plan

  • Planning and assigning tasks/activities to the V&V team while ensuring Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets are met

  • Developing test procedures based on functional requirements and preparing test scripts (preferably with VB.NET)

  • Executing manual and automated test scripts, analyzing results/logs, and generating test reports

  • Reporting and resolving defects found during V&V activities

  • Raising technical or delivery-related risks to the V&V Manager

  • Conducting CFAT, SAT, and supporting the resolution of site-level issues

  • Demonstrating agility and flexibility by working on or switching between multiple projects

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Communication)

  • More than 10 years of experience in railway signalling projects

  • Working experience in smart/computer-based/intelligent interlocking projects

  • Hands-on experience with interpreting scheme plans, circuits, control tables, etc.

  • Strong technical knowledge of signalling principles, testing, and commissioning of railway signalling projects (Metro or Mainlines)

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel functions/macros, and VBA scripting; knowledge of any scripting language is an added advantage

  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and participating in technical meetings)

  • Deep understanding of interlocking signalling principles; experience in interlocking principle testing is an added advantage

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Effective time management and reporting skills

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and supportive colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards leadership or expert roles

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
