Role Overview

The Cashier at OITIJJO Heritage Emporium serves as a vital point of contact for our customers. This role is responsible for ensuring a seamless and professional checkout experience while maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy and customer service. As a representative of a heritage-focused brand, you will handle unique handcrafted items, including handloom and handicraft products, ensuring they are processed with care.

Key Responsibilities

• Transaction Management: Process sales transactions accurately using our Point of Sale (POS) system. Handle cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payment methods.
• Customer Service: Greet customers warmly during the checkout process, answer basic inquiries about pricing or store policies, and ensure a positive final impression of the emporium.
• Financial Integrity: Maintain an accurate cash drawer, performing opening and closing reconciliations. Ensure all receipts and invoices are filed correctly.
• Product Handling: Carefully package delicate silk and handicraft items to ensure they are protected for transport.
• Inventory Assistance: Monitor stock levels near the billing counter and assist in tagging or updating prices for new arrivals as needed.
• Promotional Awareness: Inform customers about ongoing store initiatives, artisan stories, or loyalty programs during the billing process.
• Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Proficiency: Previous experience with POS systems and basic computer operations (MS Excel/Word).
• Numerical Accuracy: Strong mental math skills and a high level of attention to detail to prevent transaction errors.
• Communication: Fluent in Assamese and English; Hindi is a plus. Ability to communicate politely and clearly with a diverse range of visitors.
• Integrity: A high degree of honesty and reliability in handling financial records and physical cash.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Graduate degree preferred).

Working Conditions :

• Must be comfortable standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work weekends and during peak festival seasons (e.g., Bihu, Durga Puja).
• A passion for local heritage and artisan-made products is highly valued.
