Job Title:VMC Programmer cum Operator

Job Summary:Responsible for programming, setting, and operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce precision components as per drawings. The role includes optimizing cycle time, maintaining quality, and ensuring machine productivity.

• Key Responsibilities:1. ProgrammingCreate CNC programs using CAM software (like Mastercam / Fusion 360 / NX / SolidCAM).
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and process requirements.
• Select appropriate tools, cutting parameters, and machining strategy.
• Optimize programs for cycle time reduction and tool life.
• 2. Machine SetupPerform machine setup including:
• Fixture setup
• Tool setting and offset setting
• Work coordinate setup
• Conduct trial runs and prove-out programs before production.
• 3. Machine OperationOperate VMC machines for batch and production jobs.
• Monitor machining process and adjust parameters if required.
• Ensure maximum machine utilization and minimal downtime.
• 4. Quality ControlCheck components using measuring instruments:
• Vernier caliper
• Micrometer
• Bore gauge
• Height gauge
• Ensure parts meet drawing specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain in-process inspection records.
• 5. Tool ManagementSelect cutting tools, inserts, and holders.
• Monitor tool wear and ensure timely replacement.
• Maintain tool inventory and usage records.
• 6. Maintenance & SafetyPerform routine machine maintenance (coolant, lubrication, cleaning).
• Follow safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
• Report breakdowns or issues immediately.
• 7. DocumentationMaintain:
• Program records
• Setup sheets
• Tool lists
• Production reports
• Required Skills:Strong knowledge of VMC machining processes
• Hands-on experience with Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi controllers
• Ability to read 2D drawings & GD&T
• Knowledge of cutting tools and materials (steel, aluminum, etc.)
• Basic understanding of CAM programming
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Preferred Qualifications:ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3–8 years of experience in VMC programming & operation
• Experience in job work / precision machining industry

• Salary Range (Indicative – India):₹18,000 to ₹45,000/month (based on experience & skill level)
